engine knocking

That would explain the wobbling and make a clunk from hell. Sounds like a simple fix with some helicoils or maybe slightly longer bolts with backer nuts.

The bolt and fan was all the way tight with no movement. Do you think the ring on the backside of the pulley could be flexing and cause it?

Mine was doing that turned out the belt was to long and the tensioner was bottoming out sounding like the engine was knocking and it was also dropping metal fillings
