Pretty sure its even fire as Buick hasnt made an odd fire since the 60's or early 70's. Mike:cool:

A quick way to tell (if you can look at a crank) is the crank throws...... if the rods next to each other on an even fire V6 are "split" and offset a little from each other. The odd fire engines.... will more resemble a small block chevy crank where side by side rods are actually on the same throw....... make any sense?

One thing I know is that stock GN engines are OFF CENTER....Now, as for them being "even" or "odd" fire, that I don't know...:(

Confusing it is to the casual observer.... LOL It took me several years before I could keep it straight in my head what is what.

Yes ... the LC2's were off center. Stage blocks can be either.......people with GN's wanting to "re-use" some existing parts (intakes etc.) off their LC2 when going to a stage motor.... usually go off center for simplicity.

Now hopefully the OP isn't severly confused at this point.....

Thanks guys. Just wanting to make sure. Was looking at camshafts and Comp shows the same cams for odd and even fire engines is why I wanted to know.

Thanks

The grinds can be used for even or odd fire it it's ground right. Make sure to specify which you are going to use. You can even get the even fire cam with an odd fire nose. The last of the odd fires were used in 77 except for racing. There are odd fire cranks out there that were made for the stage II engines.

+1

Most "billet" cams have some variation of the nose of the odd fire cam..... no integral distributor (cam sensor) drive gear....... so the cam sensor drive gear.... and the timing gear are different on the odd fire setups. The popular austempered roller cams Comp and full throttle sells.... are even fire setup.... which have the distributor drive gear made into the cam....
