looks good to me from what i can see. hard to see how its connected to the header. you want the exhaust to flow straight to the gate no sharp bends.

how well is it controlling boost?

Generally, for best control you don't want the exhaust to make a hard turn to go thru the gate. It looks like that is the case in the picture.

I would think it would work better if the gate were plumbed in so that the branch from the header formed more of a Y than a T.

Bob is absolutely correct. Your setup does look like the wastegate is plumbed with a sharp 90* Tee into the header up pipe just below the turbine housing flange.

Here are a couple of pictures to help better illustrate what we talking about.

And from looking at your picture, here are some bad ways to plumb the gate.

If the inlet pipe to the wastegate is on a 90* tee or worse, I would highly recommend changing it to more of a smooth transition 45* or straight in angle.
Hope this helps.

Agree 100% above posts, They do sell units that have the wastegate flange built into the housing. That bend is an easy fix tho, NICE engine bay.

Hey guys,

I do not have a photo without the turbo unfortunetly, but it tubing does come out in a T direction.

Thanks for the compliments

Attachements of Gate

Where is the exact best place on the headers to attach this 45 degrees inlet to the gate?
Also, how far down the down pipe should the gate attach to relieve the gate pressure?
Any pics appreciated
Thanks

It can be close to the turbo. If you had a long length of pipe before the turbo you could vent it earlier. We mount most near the turbo. The idea it that the exhaust will have a very straight path to the W/G, if the gate is not open it will flow to the turbo.
