A consistent 10.0 car runs easy 11.50s
I think you should work on the 12's first gotta crawl before you walk.

If you detonate your car enough it could be all over real soon and you won't need to worry about running 11.99 or easy 11.50s. Just running will be hard enough. LOL!

the obvious
i don't try to detonate the engine but i make rookie mistakes like
1-not priming the ALKY after the car sat for 4 days
2-Go WOT on a cold engine (oil pressure was way high i think around 50 or 60 PSI.
that said
i agree with you guys on "If i detonate it" it will blow up but that also applies if i detonate a "built" motor.
given all these "IFs"

i am asking in best case or not so much worst case scenario
If i happen to get the tune in shape and i manage not to make any more rookie mistakes (doubt it) Should a 84 block live to run consistent 11.50s at 3800 pounds?

Yes i know that with my lack of tuning skills it my never get to run 11.50s.
But if i some how manage to make 11.50 power id like to know that the engine should be able to handle it. and yes assuming ZERO KR.

BTW a few weeks before i killed the engine i ran 12.23, 12.17, 12.10

Like we all said it will work just fine. Detonation kills engines, not boost (in most cases).

Besides, the older blocks are cheaper to rebuild:biggrin:

Just turn it up slowly and be a little conservative till you get used to what it will take.
