Does anyone know what is the fastest stock block(no heads or cam)on a drag radial to date. i hope someone knows i heard somewhere in the high 10's i am not sure i belive it.

I don't know of anyone that has made a motor run without heads or a cam.

(Sorry, couldn't resist.)

I don't know about running on drag radials, but I believe a few years ago Tim Stockwell (I hope I have the name right) ran 10.76 with a 1.4x 60 ft time. People didn't believe the motor was stock, so when he took it apart he had several people watch and it was stock.

I have a friend here in Seattle with an 86 GN that has not had the valve covers off. He has PT54, converter, intercooler, etc., but truly stock motor. We were at a track in Canada at 1700 ft. elavation and I shot video of him going 10.81 and 10.84. He had 28" slicks. He was running a good 30 lbs boost.

I hope that helps. I don't know of any listing for that combo so I guess others will have to post what they know. If you could get a low 1.5 sixty foot with drag radials I would guess there could be a high 10 with a stock motor. But to do it you need race gas and lots of boost.

Scott Coleman in Miss. has been 10.66 with the stock longblock in stock appearing trim. TA-61 with lots of boost and a stretched stock location i/c. This was on 28x10.5 so it would definately go high 10's on a 275/60 drag radial. This car is full interior also, no tricks, it just hauls a$$.

stock block record

A guy I work with unfortunately is a mustang fan :( but he did bring me a 5.0 mustang magazine with an article on a turbo T that went 10.88 @124 on truly stock motor. All bolt ons. They even tore the motor down to see if he was lying. Which he wasnt. I will see what month it was in.

but was that on a drag radial, the reason why i ask is a bone stock block valve covers really never off the car stock rear end with bolt on's on a nitto went 11.50@108mph went 1.71 60ft 110 oct drove it 89 miles to the track. i was trying to compare to others thats why i asked the question.

That was Tim Stockwell, I have that issue.

I have run 10.57@127 with my bone stock shortblock in a full weight car.....but others have gone even faster. If you are just talking stock block, with upgraded internals allowed.....many have now been in the 9s. There is a rumor in fact that one of Orlando Granda's buddies has run VERY low 9s.....I guess we'll wait and see if someone can give more details :)

I went 11.34 on a bone stock long block. And get this..... on an untouched TA49. Need to tune these cars for hp.

I think the drag radial is the question. See when the cars start making power the tires get serious. And drag radials being so "IFFY".. most run on slicks so they can get some consistency on the tuning. Ive run drag radial for a long time. I currently run ET Streets since they perform a bit more predictable. Guys blowing big boost 30+PSI on stock blocks dont mess with DR's..

Reason is why waste a run? Unless theyre in a class that dictates that, or teying to prove a point. Same can be said of 93 octane Some will try and prove a point saying car ran 11.xxx at 18 PSI on 93 octane.. When it will run a low 10 at 26 PSI on race gas.

So the issue is what can it run, vs what does it run.

11.50 at 108 something is seriously wrong with the tuneup on that car. 11.50 should run at least 118-120

so then with a et street what type of gain are you looking at, the way i finally dialed in that time was with 28 psi 18 psi of air in a nitto 4 psi in air bag. that time is a typo it was @118mph.

If your trying to get the best out of the DR's then let some more air out. My 275/50 BFG DR's really started biting at 14psi. It was a stock motor but had heads and cam. I left on 7psi and it went a 1.49 60 foot. Of course I was running 32# of boost.

If you leave the car alone and just swap to ET Streets you should get at least another tenth out of it, maybe more if you can leave on more boost.

Not to get off topic here, but drag radials was in the original post.:)

I have not personally run MT drag radials yet, but a few local GN's have with better 60' times than the MT ET streets. Down into the 1.5's, and a few runs in the 1.4's.

But this has been at much higher pressures, like 29-30 psi. The BFG DR's seem to like 20-22 psi best.
