guys, just curious, what are the fastest times out there for gns in street trim (street tires, no boost increase, pump gas, stock injectors, turbo etc) regular bolt-ons like chip, exhaust mods, fuel pumps ok......thanks.....also a basic turbo question.....what could the advantage of a cold air intake be if incoming air is going to heated by the turbo? it would seem that if there is an advantage to be had, it would have to be after the turbo on the intercooler side of the equation? new to all of this and really enjoying the board!

my car is basically stock and you can see what i ran in my sig. but that was with the non-adjustable wastegate and according to my VDO boost gage that run was only with 11 pounds of boost, since then i have put a adjustable actuator on it and adjusted it to 14 pounds with stock chip and 93 octane but have not run it at the track yet.

12.63@108 launching with no boost. It could 60' better, but off idle is more consistant with small 225/60 radials on an unpredictable track.

those are incredible, what mod do you have? what i am trying to do is put together a decent street setup. mine is basically stock and plan to upgrade fuel pump and regulator and replace my hypertech with some newtech as far as the chip is concerned. i just want a high 13 streetcar.....nothing great....just something to run with the mustangs.....thanks

12.18 at 110.48 mph on Nittos and 93 octane on a 60-65 deg evening. Drove to the track, let the tires down from 26 to 22 psi, put 25 psi in the right rear airbag, and went racing. If you want to go 12's on pump gas, build a car that would do 11's on race gas - you gain up to 0.5 sec from race gas with higher boost and more timing, and up to 0.5 sec or more with real slicks instead of drag radials.

If you honestly just want mid-13's on pump gas, that's easy. Get drag radials (I love the Nittos), a hotwired Walbro 340 fuel pump, K&N filter/cold air setup, lighten the cat or put on a test pipe, good dual 2.5" cat-back exhaust or open a dump on a test pipe, and a street chip to match (like the Thrasher). If you want some insurance for a hot summer day go up to a TA49 or TE44 turbo, and if your stock injectors aren't in great shape go up to bluetops. However, if you think you will get the bug to go even faster, rethink this list because it's likely you will want to go even bigger on turbo and injectors and why buy twice?

Hey buzzman

I think my car fit exactly what your looking for.
I ran a 14.04 @99 2.26 60 ft. It was my first pass down the track, bad reaction time, bad 60ft.
I had stock turbo/injectors/IC. Stock computer chip, 235/60/15 BFG radials. 93 octane.
Mods were as follows:
Intake- power plate(plenum spacer), K&N cone filter
Fuel- Walbro 307 pump, PTE hotwire kit, 237 fuel pressure reg (running rich)
Exhaust- ATR 2.5" downpipe, Hooker 2.5" exhaust w/ testpipe, also had a home ported turbo exaust elbow.
Boost was right around 16lbs.

Over the winter, I have gotten so far thrasher chips, suspension mods, slicks, and a few other little items. I should be hitting low 13's on street gas. Maybe high 12's if I get better at launching.

Even though it's not the quickest car around, it's still a BLAST to drive on the street. :D

After reading another one of your posts, I have a few words of advise. ijames basically nailed it dead on. ;)
*Go a head and get the Walbro 340, no sense in getting the 307 like I did. Get it hotwired, it's well worth it!
*Don't bother with the 237 fuel pressure regulator, go a head and get the adjustable unit right off the bat.
*The Hooker dual 2.5" system is awsome for only $300.
*Talk to "Scott231" for a Thrasher chip. $25 shipped. :)
*the 275/60/15 Nitto drag radial fit nicely on stock rims. ;)

With the above mentioned, you should have no problem shutting down the local mustang boys. :D

Oh yea, get a Scanmaster or a laptop& turbolink. You NEED to know what is going on with your car.
Scantool... then mods. :p

My first GN went 12.84 @105 with a chip, K&N, fuel pump and adjustable fuel pressure regulator. That was on radials, not drag radials but Kelly Springfield chargers, a non adjustable wastegate and a STOCK downpipe. It spun the hole way thru first gear. Needless to say it would of went mid 12's with a harder launch and the ability to get some traction.

Should kept that car:(

Carl Ijames is telling a story!!!!!!! :D :D :D

Nah, I was there and Ijames runs pump gas all the time. If his 60' times were better it would have been an 11 that night.

Seven years ago I ran a 11.92 @116mph, pump gas, 0 psi launch & 18psi boost on 295-50-15 Dunlops (crapy tires). My mods at the time were; ported stock heads and intake, FM,old 60-1turbo w/.81exh housing,3" down pipe w/two deltagate setup,2 external bosch 216 fuel pumps, msd 50's,DFI, fullrace trans(200r4)w/Art Carr 9'' non lockup. and few misc.

my wifes we4...runs 8.0 1/8 mile @85 mph...with a BGC adj FP regulator,hot wired STOCK pump!,comp 979-12 springs,275-50-15 BFGdr's...and a red armstrong 107 chip.5gal of 110octane gas,21 psi...and thats ALL folks...i did read aGOOD article in an old gsxtra...unleashing the performance of your T-R...by red armstrong:cool:
