If I recall correctly, Last yr...the 02' Nats I arrived in town 2 or 3 days before you actually did there, mr Dug.....and "I" was in fact the one that showed it to you when you asked, "So, were's the nice cars at?" Then it showed up again this yr for less w/12k of stereo gear less too and the rest is history

Every car that I have seen, the top negates the WO2 option. The cars that have the blackout package with the top are later additions. I dont believe they could come from the factory like that.
My car was originally all chrome trim. The blackout package on mine was done later on, since several of the pieces that surround the top are not available in black, only chrome, so they were taped in vinyl or painted.
Chirs' car isnt a limited. Similar to mine, it is a regular Regal with some limited-esque options on it. The rocker trim was an option, but not a WO2 package delete.

My car is a limited and the roof was installed in 11/86 at Chandler Buick in Arizona. I have the original bill of sale for the install. Here is a pic of the RPO and you will notice the roof is not listed.

Just curious Silversleeper, am I missing something here. My car has the limited interior (different upper door panels and the the dash above the glove box lights up) plus has the badges on the rear quarter. Fill me in please.

I was looking at the pic and couldnt tell if it had the "Limited" Badge on the quarters or not.

So your car was originally a Limited, with the WO2, but the top was a later add on?
I was thinking it went the other way around, that you started out with a Regal with vinyl top/chrome trim, then added the blackout. If it was a limited with chrome trim, its likely it would have had the chrome rocker panels.

Jason, I thought you may have been on to something thats all. Yes, if you looked at the RPO the car is a W02 from the factory. The padded roof was installed at the dealership per the original owners request. I have never seen another car like mine. I wish it was as cherry as some of the other Limiteds shown, but this car is my daily driver with over 125k on it. 20MPG and no one gets in front of me during the daily commute.

As far as I can tell, that dealer option does make the car pretty rare. I remember looking at the options packages for these cars, and I believe it stated : Padded Top (not avail with WO2). So theoretically, the cars couldn't come from the factory optioned with the two together.
See, I went the other way around. I had a car with a padded top from the factory, then added the WO2 later on. Main difference between yours and mine is that mine isnt Limited trimmed on the inside. I actually vinyl taped the trim around my top, since those pieces dont exist as WO2 parts. It was actually a stripped car (low options) inside, that looks like a limited from the outside.

I have seen Limiteds with the WO2 before, there have been some in Kirbans books. The WO2 negated the rocker trim from the factory. But, none of them had the top.

I was really interested.... never seen another silver/top/blackout car like mine before either. I was just curious about the story behind it.
