Has anyone tried a 400 and went back to a 200 with actual track times. I wanted to see if anyone has gained MPH or had quicker ETs as a result. I like the reliablity and cheaper cost of the 400, but hate the MVB and lack of OD. I am trying to bring back the street manners and not slow the car down.
I will be making the switch over the winter and plan on using a well built trans and either a PTC or 9/11 converter. My current 3500 stall converter is slipping 25% according the the TCI calculator 28" tire stock gears and5900-6000 rpm at the stripe. Any input is valuable at this point, thanks in advance.

With a lower first gear and light reciprocating mass, in theory, the 2004r should be faster, just not as reliable as TH400.

I'll throw in that getting someone who knows how to build a 2004R is very important. I see you are in Chitown. Jimmy's seems to be the choice there if you want a local guy.

You think like me as far as theroy of operation. I think you put more boost and timing on the th400 setup to get the same 1/8th mile times. I have a builder in mind but he is not local.(see sig)
