Anybody see that? The show was pretty good, but the race? What a joke. They got two GNs, put the following on both of them: bigger turbos (brand/size not specified), front mount intercoolers, bigger injectors (brand/size not specified), new headers, MSD ignition systems, direct dump downpipes, high stall convertors (no rpm specified), MT ET Streets and hi performance transmissions. With all that, the fast car ran a mid 14.something and the slow car a 17.7 (bad fuel pump relay)--this after they'd talked them up as the hottest things going. I just shook my head. Those cars, even '85's, should have been faster than mid 14's with all that stuff on 'em. No scan tools and failure to tune. Didn't make a good impression.

p.s. For those of you who don't know, Full Throttle is a History Channel show where they put together two two-person teams who get two days to add identical speed parts on two cars that are as identical as the show mechanics can find. The team that wins a best-two-out-of-three drag race series gets to keep both cars. In this case they only ran once since the second car wouldn't start again in the 15 minutes they are allotted between races (no fuel pressure).

This episode originally aired back in November or so...and got bashed pretty good on here then.

There was a huge thread when this show originally aired. They really did not do the 85's justice...:(

I coulda whooped up on em with my 2000 Maxima.

Show sucked,,and welcome to three months ago. This is about the 4th thread on that show that originally aired 3 months ago.

The show was great and only had a few flaws.

The show wasn't about taking some Buick know-it-alls from this site to build the cars. It was about taking 4 brain dead guys and seeing what they ended up with.

It's funny to see the negitive replys on here about that show.

Honestly when you look into the cars, they didn't do all that bad. They were on low boost, in Cali which means 91 octane, LACR (the track) is a very high track and regularly has density altitudes upwards of 5000. The guys were idiots on top of that (if it was a relay it would not have even made it back to the pits) And obviously those stall convertors were all wrong or something as i think i could have ran to the first 60 ft marker before they got there. (even just flooring it they should be able to pull 2.00s) It was entertaining, and other than the supercharged 3rd gens they are still the fastest cars they've built at least since the last time i checked

The bigest flaw was the twins.

I think we can all agree that nothing is more painfull than listening to a guy that talks like he knows buicks but does'nt.

It's clear that the show didn't want someone involved that knew these cars. They had Kenny for that if needed, but you can tell his imput was limited.

I would have taken 2 well known buick "experts" to act as forman on each project to replace those twins. These forman wouldn't be allowed to touch the car. They could only advise the team they were in charge of.

My first pick would be "sunny" Dave England to run one team.

Who would be the second forman?

Thats not a bad idea really. instead of having some general "automotive" tools like the twins, have a single car host say like big daddy don garlits or something since its drag racing based then have two guest technical reps that have lots of knowledge of the cars they are building up for that week and assign one to each team. that way the guys building and racing the cars actually LEARN something about how to properly mod whatever model car they have for that episode and then LEARN how to properly dragrace them.

give them each one shakedown run then do 3 drag races.

yea... you know. . those damn fuel pump relays can really slow you down when they go bad

the show was pathetic. i think a big factor was that they didnt do **** to the fuel system except bigger injectors and didnt even have new chips burned.
