I'm sure some of you have seen that light blue sleeper regal with the wire wheels, white walls, AARP window sticker, beanie baby on the rear deck, bingo license plate bracket etc..all it was missing was a box of Kleenex on the rear deck.
Found myself cracking up all day at work with the thought of doing something like this, saw some nice grandpa base model limiteds on the inerwebs & would like to go that route..
What would have to be done to the car to make it fast but keep it old fart-ish looking? Motor and trans. Combo? (Open to any suggestions, Summit crate motor?) How about suspension and traction?
No matter how much I read this board I still don't know what the hell I'm doing so let's hear some ideas....

Peg leg car with one drag radial and the other three tires all mismatched....and one these on the hood

Base Regal. Junkyard LS based 4.8 or 5.3L, 70-76mm turbo, 4L80 trans, upper & lower solid control arms, spicer Ujoints, aluminum 3" driveshaft & a Gbody 9". No larger than 255/60 rear tires.

79 Lincoln continental with a Mazda rotary motor in it. It won't move....but will be funny as hell.

Or you could build something like this. over $40k in reciepts the original owner spent on this to make it a sleeper.
I'm thinking about getting some old steel rims + maybe some snow tires for the back  to complete the look.

i would think sticking with a turbo regal set up this way it still has v6 sound until it spools :) i believe there was a 4 door regal on here kicking ass..

Don't know if he still have it but Brian Lee from Ma. used to have a Buick wagon with wire wheels, white walls and a babyseat in the back seat. It used to run 11s. Haven't heard much about it lately. Couple years ago he had a RPE stroker built for it...

There was also a white or light blue limited with wire wheels, no bump in the hood, turning lights, etc....screamed grandma.
10 second 109.

Oops, I erased the quote, this was in reply to rafs post above asking for more info on the truck.

Built 360 magnum, built to handle boost, all the usuals,balanced,blueprinted,forged,studded,ported,polished,o-ringed ,roller cam, etc.
T-Trim Vortec (Race-M version with beefier Internals) to handle the cog belt system + higher boost levels.
Vortec Aftercooler (air to water intercooler) + Mondo blow off valve.
F.A.S.T. fuel injection system, MSD everything,Long tubes,dual high flow cats, Griffin radiator,m1 intake,Crower roller rockers,suspension mods,etc. etc.
Hughes Performance GM 4l80e Trans,(Good for over 1000 hp.) TCI trans controller,Yanks Converter.
9.25 rear, 355's.

Operating way below the T-Trims efficiency range it made:

470 hp + 533 ft/lb tq at 7 lbs with no intercooler
518 hp + 568 ft/lb tq at 9 lbs with no intercooler

It's now making about 13 lbs,of intercooled boost + the T-trim is getting closer to hitting it's sweet spot of 16-26 lbs of boost .
I'm guessing it's now somewhere in the 625 hp + 650 ft/lb range .
On pump gas with no alky and only 4700 rpm.

I just found these adapter mounts a few days ago. I will have a chassis shop cut down8.5 posi rear and 4 link it into the car. These chevettes are 1800-2200 pounds according to what I read online.

That sounds more like a dangerous idea , tho i'm sure it would satisy any needed adrenaline rush fix.
I'm really liking that pacer above.
Any stats or specs on it Team Banana ? more pics maybe?
It has a ls7 454 with lots of compression and lots of spray. That paint is the factory paint. I think the car has 9k original miles. This is the only other pic I have.
