I was gonna say after last night we are definately going Home to the Greatest Ballpark ever, but NOW I'm not so sure.....:o:biggrin:

GO YANKS!!!

Yanks are going to throw the next game so they can win in their new stadium.:D Why didn't they throw a roof on that thing?

that Home plate ump was real bad last night.
BTW 3>1 Yanks

Howard missed home plate entirely, never touched it and the ump scored it. I saw that in real time live when he missed it. I didn't need a replay.

The home plate umps are a joke pretty much year round everywhere now. From little league to the majors they all now have a strike zone the size of a shoe box. "Want to make the game exicting" is what they say. Taking away the corners and edges of the plate now. Just throw meat! Screw that, I love watching a pitcher with good stuff beat up on hitters. If you can't hit stay in the minors. All they want now are flamethrowers, major leaguers can hit that stuff all day. You need movement to fool those guys.

I am not for using instant replay in baseball or electronic monitoring of the strike zone but unless the umps take off the blinders behind the dish then we might have to.

I don't really have a problem with "replay" at all.
But last nights ump was of the worst kind
He wasn't consistent at all. To one batter the same exact pitch is good and to the other it’s out. This actually helps the pitcher I think since the hitter has to "protect" the plate and just swing away at anything with in 1 foot of the plate.

Next thing
I just hate the dam close ups in the Johnny steel I thought that he was fooled by the second baseman and was going to get caught in a run down.
I thought that because they never showed the fielders in the Tex-shift.
also after the A-Rod pop-up A-Rod walked right by the pitcher I would have liked to see how close he got to the pitcher and the pitchers body language.
But instead I can count blackheads on the players and the fans faces WTF

I am not a big Foot ball fan as I like one on one sports better But at least you see what happening on the field as it happens then you get the close ups of the important stuff.

Uh Oh.

What happened?

Yank's did not hit all that well as a team, Philly's just hit worse.

Utley tried to carry the team but Howard was too heavy.

Phillies were hitting and kicking a$$ ALL the way right up to the World Series. Once they got in the world series they turned the pitching off (other the Lee) and the bats went cold as hell. I've seen this happen before but it's usually in the middle of the season when it don't matter much. I work for the Phillies so I see EVERY game. The way they were sweeping thru the playoffs and right into the World Series you would have thought they would walk all over the Yanks with ease. So just so you Yank fans know who don't watch baseball and are bandwagon jumpers (and you know who you are!!) this is NOT a typical performance from the Phillies. In fact this performance (other then Lee) is by far the worst I've seen them play all year. The Yanks did not play well at all in the series as well but they caught some breaks and got the runs where the Phillies bats could not play catch up. I'm very happy with a back to back getting into the world series and in a way I'm glad they lost. To much work for me if they win! :D I've been getting stuck at work every game till almost 2am so it's going to be nice to have a normal work week next week for the first time in months!!

And let's all not loose focus why the Yanks have won a lot over the years. Sorry to say for those that don't believe it but ANY sports team comes down to one thing and one thing only why they win MONEY! The Yanks have some sick payrolls on some of those players and their a$$ better at least get them in the playoffs for all that money they pour into that team. And that is why I don't follow sports in general because every year it's the same $hit in the playoffs. The team who pours the most money into buying players is who is going to win 90% of the time. Unless a team gets lucky with some fresh up and coming talent that these money whore teams did not buy up yet.

Come on Philly, Yankee haters can't have it both ways. They haven't won it all since 2000 and everyone says you just can't spend money you have to have chemistry among other things to win which is why the Yanks have come up short according to that theory. 9 years later they win it again and its all because of the payroll.

The only thing better than watching the yankees Beat the Phillies At Home to Finish the series,Was to watch them knock that Slime Ball Pedro Out of the game so quickly.

I think Charlie Manuel is a top notch manager,And If there was one person I hate to see on the losing end,It was him.He was very Graceful in defeat,And pretty much summed up what most Phillie fans dont want to admit...The Yankees kept 1 step ahead of them,And shut down there lefty Batting....Except for Utley..And had there way with the Phillies pitching,Except for Lee of course:eek:

Who's...Who's Daddy?

Phillies are a kick ass team. Much respect to them. I also had doubts that Yanks were going to take it home. Phillies fought hard!

sports in general is 50/50

$ and popularity is the direction sports have went.

In this day & time championships are bought not built.
MVP votes go to the most popular player.
Heisman trophies go to the most popular player.
Referee/umpire calls go to the team everyone wants to win & Yes refs/umpires can be fans too.

It is a popularity and money contest more than it is what is best for that sport in general.

Baseball is horrible. Big market teams rule. Small market teams are just bait for the big market teams. Last year the rays won 98 games in the American league east. Made the world series and lost to Philly. This year the Yankee's won 103 and won the world series.

Payroll difference is more than I can fathom. I would hope that you could win 5 more games in the regular season and a few more in the world series against the same opponent.

NFL I'm glad they have a salary cap and a playoff system along with a sudden death overtime. More parity for sure.

College football is horrible too. Most of the time the Heisman trophy winner flops in the NFL. Most of the time the winner is an ok player on a great team not a great player on a ****ty team. Barry Sanders was one if not the greatest pure talent college football player to win the Heisman trophy and to succeed in the pro's. Rare but it happens sometimes. Most of the time it does not work out that way. It is not always the most outstanding player but the most popular player on the most popular team.

NBA who cares

NHL I'm glad they beat the hell out of each other or I would not watch the highlights.

Golf is not a sport.

money wins every time??
the Yankees had the highest payroll in the last nine years and how many times did they win?
the math doesnt add up or does it?
1+1=2
not
1+1=5
they even missed a playoffs once!

Explain the Rays last year.

They have one of the lowest collective salaries in baseball if not the lowest.

Yea the Philly's beat them in the series but they got there over every other money team in the league.

It is not the money.
