So, fresh build.

How fresh? I would expect a little fuel smell until the rings set. Any minute gap in the wall and ring would wash fuel into the oil. About 500+ miles before all things become normal?

About a hundred mile since rebuid. And I'm very sure the rings are set lol; fuels been washing these walls down like silly. :(
And what would cam sensor and timing do if they were wrong?

And so what would my timing have to be, to cause a rich condition. Is it something I can monitor with a tool?
 
Check your grounds on the back of the passenger side head. Also make sure you have a ground from the motor to the body.
 
Throws the injector pulse off among other things. We had a car blowing black soot and couldn't tune it to run nomatter what we did. Changed everything with no success. Finally checked the ground and BINGO! Car ran great!

Wow! So how does the ground throw off the injector pulse? Does it screw with it's timing or pulse width? If a ground that would cause that to be off is the cause, then would it effect other parts of the car? What else could I look for? I can't wait to go and check these things. Back of the passenger side head you say?
 
You have to remember, the grounds are just as important than any electrical feed. Without a good ground, any electrical component will not work at its full potential. Simple things like fuel pump, ecm, relays, etc will act out when not properly grounded. Make sure the grounding surfaces are free of paint, grease, rust, etc. I usually get so much more out of a fuel pump than most people do by simply making good grounding paths. I guess that's what happens when your an electrician!
 
I actually have a tool designed for setting the can sensor...old school plug in, turn until you get a red light, tighten back up and plug back in to harness. I see you are up in Boston. I would be willing to send it to you if you can be sure to send it back.

Ok, no fuel in the pressure regulator, and it holds good vacuum. But now my blms are freaking 134. Though I'm ok with ANY positive change in blms lol. Oh yea, and now the exhaust fumes don't choke me or make my eyes water!
 
The "timing" I referred to is the CAM SENSOR timing, not the ign timing.
As mentioned, the sensor controls injection timing..Setting the inj timing wrong will result in injecting fuel at the wrong crank position...The engine will run, [however, not well], with the cam sensor 180* out of phase.
 
I read. My car runs pretty decent, except it's rich. Could that still be the phasing 180 degrees wrong?
