I have given it up for well over two yrs one time and for months other times. I did not put my pay to justify anything I was simply trying to make a point that "potheads" as you like to say are normal everyday people that carry on their lives the same as everyone else. I really don't care if "clean" people think my "pay" was a joke or not as that was not the reason I posted it. You are trying to say that people that smoke pot are "Addicts" and I am telling you that you need to step out into the real world and quit reading and watching the gov't propaganda on the "ills of weed" and use your own judgement instead of what someone tells you is "good or bad". By the way I could ,and have, stopped doing "it" many times when I have wanted to not because somebody told me I was an "addict". You are so nieve(sp) about it yet you sit in judgement of others without having any facts to base your judgement on. I am going to venture a guess that you are a devout "christian". I make this guess based upon the gist of your replies in this thread. This is not a "dig" at your religion if you are in fact a "devout christian" but just an observation by an "old pot addict" who has experienced "christian judgement" from holier than thou types and you seem to fit the mold.

I didn't mean to even act like moral police at all. Some people posted that nobody gets hurt from the stuff. I gave an example on how they were VERY wrong.

Maybe it really isn't them that gets hurt. It's others that have to carry the load and pain from their decisions. It's not always them, or at least they don't see it is them that caused the problem in the first place.

Guess you've never been to any DUI accidents where people were killed. Guess you're not aware mexican nationals are growing it in our forests and are shooting at people who come to close. Guess you've never worked down on skid road dealing with the people who's lives are ruined.

The majority of drug users are multiple drug users, or poly drug users. MJ is just one of them. The majority of DUI arrests of people in this country for drug use have two to three, or more drugs in their system. The most frequent drug of choice.....Yup....MJ. It's a drug, it impairs, it kills.

But then it hasn't hurt you yet, so don't worry until the truth is right in front of your nose.

Been there too.

You could say this guy was like an uncle to me. Never had any kids but, he loved absolutely every body. It was the classic cross the double line and take a life. He was minding his own business and out of nowhere, someone ended his life. I have only golfed two rounds of golf in my life, one was at a tournament in his honor. Was a fun and sad day at the same time.

Just imagine what great things a sober society could accomplish.

I thought the plumbing in the toilet "looked" flimsy. So to check if my thoughts were in fact correct notions I placed my foot ever so gently on the pipe. To my surprise the pipe "gaveway" causing that end of the school to flood or flud just as the last bell was ringing. the next night I did a burnout in the school lobby...real black rubber. ouch what

I had a nice long reply typed up, but then I drank some more of that delicious legal alcohol and started laughing at sverble and a few others and managed to delete my post. At least I wasn't smoking no evil weed, damned marijuana, ruining lives.

Bottom line is, it'd take more than my two hands to count how many friends and loved ones I've known who's lives were "shaken" by alcohol or cigarettes. On the other hand (oh don't have any more, both hands are busy) ok on the other foot, no one I know has had their life ruined SIMPLY because they smoked some dope. Except a few who's lives were ruined because they smoked ILLEGAL dope and the resulting fines and jail time for smoking a weed screwed them up legally and financially.

That said I'll let this topic die as far as I'm concerned (cept laughing at the funny). My crown royal glass is empty anyway.

Oh, I'd explain to him that daddy thinks it shouldn't be against the law, but because it IS and merely being near it or around it, and especially using it or having it, will get HIM (or me) in trouble, then therefore, I want him far from it. I never want him using something illegal, not because I necessarily agree with it being against the law, but because I disagree with him being ARRESTED for any reason.

Kinda like how I won't drive even if I have a single drink (it takes more like 5 to get me even slightly tipsy) I know it's illegal and I don't play that game. I watched my dad get hauled off twice for possession, and 3 times for DUI/DWI and it ****ed us up, financially mostly, because those fines, and the lost work, put us in dire straits. When I was 14/15 I drove my dad around a lot, because me getting caught without a license was a LOT less trouble than HIM getting caught without a license (he lost his for 1 year, thanks to his 2nd DUI).

The pot didn't hurt us, my dad never beat me when he was stoned (or drunk, he was a happy drunk like I am, not a mean drunk) and he never sold his tools (he worked construction) to buy pot, he never missed work due to pot either (he did once or twice due to alcohol though, and cigarettes killed his ass dead, both legal of course), and he never spent money on pot he couldn't afford to (he usually bought enough or growed some so he could make his pot smokign "free"), but because it was illegal, not because it was harmful, his use of pot ****ed us up. too. One time the pot was planted on him (long and VERY STUPID story), once he was just a dip**** (the 2 possession charges), however the DUIs and DWI I won't even attempt to defend, I've never claimed him to be a saint, the dumbass shoulda known not to drive under the influence of even a "couple" beers, and he deserved those fully, but pot, it never hurt me, or my family or my friends, OTHER than the fact it was illegal.

Had having a few joints/less than an ounce of pot, been legal, my dad would have never gotten in any trouble over pot. The only reason it ever caused an issue was the fact it was illegal, not because it was "OHMYGODLIFEDESTROYING" or "OHMYGODADDICTIVE" but just because, it was simply "OHMYGODAGAINSTTHELAW". I can remember my parents going MONTHS without a joint because "it was dry" (meaning pot was hard to find). Try making them go for months without a cigarette however haha, hell try making them go HOURS without one. My dad finally quit when he lost a lung due to lung cancer, my mom quit with him.

I'm not putting my kid thru his daddy being caught doing anything even remotely illegal, regardless of how STUPID I think it is for whatever it is to BE illegal in the first place. I'm also (hopefully) not putting him thru the agony of lung cancer (due to smoking) since I've never smoked a single item my entire life (legal or illegal) and I've lost over 120 pounds of weight so hopefully he won't lose his dad to heart disease either. I like to think I'm an upgrade from my dad, and I hope my kid is a huge upgrade over me, hopefully he's 10 times the man I am, if so I can go to my grave a satisfied I did my job. And I sure hope my dad went to his grave the same way.

WOW this post got heavy , let me say this from experiance on ALL sides of the fence. Prior Police officer and well PM me if you need further explination to the other . Alcohol,(Yes i said Alcohol) weed, coke ,meth, herion ,xanax,vicodin,perciodin etc ...add whatever you want to the list ........ ARE ALL DRUGS !..... They are all bad if abused and more often than not they are.... if you base your morality on Legality then thats kinda foolish IMO but lets not kid ourselfs , they all have a "Pandoras Box " that goes along with each of them . Im not hear to Judge anyone... but lets not say that one is less or more worse than another and lets not point fingers , in reality you have to live with your own decisions and what they do to your faimily ...........................Ok now that ive said that i just wanted to alert everyone that the Professor had a METH LAB in that cave on the Island which expians Gilligan being so thin and high strung .

Busted with pot, who cares? Not like it was meth.

I'm not going to take sides or defend, just gonna voice my life experiences. My father is also another ex drunken driver-more than 5 times for sure. Had to do in house treatment or 3 years prison. Of course me being young, dumb, fulla kum&go , I didn't learn from his experience. In high school I was pulled over for drinking and driving. Not from bad driving, it was froma brake light being out that I was pulled over a week prior for when I blew through a stoplight over 60 mph racing a viper in my z28 (who do ya think got pulled over?). Second time was my passenger wasn't wearinga seat belt. Both times I only had 2 beers. Actions like these (bad parenting, etc.)are caused by bad decisions and being irresponsible, not being stoned. "I'm gonna get stoned, knock over an ATM machine, slam my car into someone's house, turn into Herbet the Pervert and molest some kids and rape a cat " yeah right. Back to the off topic discussion, I've never had anything bad happen from smoking pot. Smoked for about 8 years straight nearly every day and I'm sure there was a point where I did get stoned every day. Never went to work stoned, never went to family functions stoned, nobody had a clue until my brother caught mea dn said "I'm not the only one". All the decisions I've made in my life were NOT affected by me gettin stoned- except decisions on what junkfood I was gonna chow down on. DQ made enough money off me to build a new building with gas pumps. I didn't go to Dairy Queen for once on night and missed out on a party night with this chick with huge knockers from school, but that's it. My friend got brain cancer from smoking cigs, my dad has lost numerous jobs in the past for being too hungover to go to work. I myself, I've had 4 jobs in 12 years and have only called in for my kid being born, being sick, a friends funeral. I didn't have a mental breakdown cowering in the fetal position on my bed when I stopped smoking either. I do miss the munchies and sitting around telling funny stories and having conversation. Since then I've lost 15lbs- I now only weigh 155 and I'm over 5 10. My wife told me I should start smokign again-she don't care for the stuff. I don't care for drinking but I do go out and have a few beers but I hate the hangover, that's why I had usually smoked. Pot never made me miss work, drinking the night before did. By the way, everyone on the whole Fing island was stoned, it was the 60's!

I'll answer this one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If my boy was of age and wanted to take a couple pulls of a joint after a long day of wrenching out in the garage, I'd join him if I could. Now if he was under 21 and was not an adult, and wasnt responsible, I'd have his as$!

I was born with dislocated hips and a club foot. Spent 7 years in a body cast and didn't take my first steps until I was almost 8 years old. Had two artificial hips put in when I was in my early 30'S, more than 20 years ago. I would much rather smoke a fatty than pop a pill for the constant pain. I can't imagine what my life would have been like if I would have been on painkillers for the last 40 years.

I hit the back of a parked pickup when I was going about 50mph. In horrible pain from aching muscles and whatnot. 2 days later my wife (girlfriend at time) had to go to a funeral for a second friend in one year that passed. We got ripped and grubbed out at a friends house and had a few beers along with a good time. We both felt better
