it was in his contract, and contracts are supposed to be honored unless they get changed.

I personally think the day my tax dollars become what's needed to keep a company around, any contracts that were in place (especially contracts that pay one person $10MM on top of a very inflated "salary" to begin with) should be able to be voided. I'm sorry, but paying one of the people who contributed to GM's demise $10MM to leave is total BS IMO.

i'll put a pacifier in your envelope maybe it'll quiet you down.

Just curious as to why the smart ass remarks, directed at 2 decent guys?

Yeah, looks like he was a top notch exec and deserved that golden parachute.

He became president and chief executive officer in June 2000 and was elected chairman on May 1, 2003. Under Wagoner's leadership, GM suffered more than $85 billion in losses

this is the lounge, right? didnt know everyone walked on eggshells now. i've been around here as long as anyone else.

today has pissed me off about everyone crying about wagoner. if barry wouldnt have forced him to resign no one would be up in arms about this, now would they?10 million isnt squat considering his tenure...

gm is turning around and getting good product on the marketplace, lets fire wagoner! good idea... is that even constitutional for the president to fire a CEO? well.... lets not get into that can of worms. why do the unions own so much of GM? yada yada...

wagoner accepting 50% of what he was initially promised is a big deal. CEO of GM only taking 10 million? what is the big deal here!? 10 million is no golden parachute, more like a garbage bag with some shoe string handles tied to it.

we're about to nationalize healthcare and **** everything up as we know it and THIS IS NEWS?

give me a break

this really belongs in political views anyway...

Nobody is walking on eggshells, and no I DID NOT vote for Obama and thing everything he is doing is wrong.

BUT my post has to do with RW getting a pile of money for running GM into the ground with allowing unions and other decisions to be agreed on like they were.

Like it or not he was the big dog in charge... and they lost their asses.

It didnt belong in the political section until YOU made it a political thread.

If I have to explain the point of the thread to you then i understand why you cannot grasp it... no need to go there.

The only way it is a political subject now is because its Government Motors because it was run in the ground.

And he was getting paid, what, $1MM a year to run the place? I am making a guess on that figure based on what upper level management was making in the late '70s ($650k+-).

Regardless, I doubt seriously he NEEDED the money to live his life out comfortable. So I, for one, have a problem with my tax dollars going to something like that. And I get to bitch about it if I want to.

If I PM you the instruction manual on the subject, will you run along and play game of "hide & go fu(k yourself"?

as a CEO he agreed to $1.00 a year as soon as the troubles hit... if that doesnt make a statement i dont know what does dude.

ugh, that was from like 06 to sometime in 08 i think. i cant look this stuff up at work, websense has everything blocked but you can find it on google

He joined the treasures office for GM in 1981 and worked his way to where he was.....

After making millions for 28+ years hell yes he could work for a dollar.

And he made how much before that?

Sure, he stepped up. I won't argue that. But like I said, I doubt he really needs an extra $10MM at the point in his life.

If GM was doing fine and dandy, making a profit and not needing government bailouts, I wouldn't care if they paid him $10 Billion to leave. But that isn't the case.

i'm in total agreement with you.

i still think a ~10m retirement package is chump change considering all the reckless spending our idiot in chief is doing and people are just making this a big deal as a distraction.

i'd love to see a fact that shows over time his profits vs the losses... see anything like that out there? (honest question, not being a smart ass..)

Well just in his last 4 years he did this, so I hope he cut a fat hog in the ass the first 24:eek:

In the last four years of Wagoner’s leadership, GM lost $82 billion.

BTW just a simple internet search.

i realize lately it has been bad for him, but i would think they were doing pretty well since he started... this

search not simple at work, 80% of the links i click are freaking blocked by websense.

time to go home, brb.
