Could not have said it better...

Ok, now I get it. They were trying to say AMERICAN racing headers. Hence, the AMERICAN flag underneath them. You guys have waaaaay over reacted.

Good idea? No, not at all since it offened many but it certainly wasn't directed as an unpatriotic act. In fact, im sure it was placed there to do just the opposite to represent an AMERICAN company making AMERICAN made headers by displaying the AMERICAN flag underneath them vs. headers made in China.

It was simply a poor way of getting their point accross. Canceling a subscription to pretty much the ONLY magazine that represents TR's over that is corny imo. You guys make it sound like they were burning the American flag.

Granted, they don't have much TR stuff in there these days and that aggrivates me but they had a big write up on Don Cruz recently so it's not like they aren't doing ANY TR's I guess.

I wholehearted agree. I agree that it was poor taste, but the point they were trying to get address was the "American" theme. Rick Jensen, whom I understand is no longer with GM Hi-Tech, is a TB owner and did a lot for our cards publicity. By boycotting the magazine, we woud further contribute to the downfall of the only magazine that talks about our cars.

I am also expecting them to address this in the next issue. Poor editing on my opinion, but they are human (hopefully).

A disgrace to the American flag? American headers placed over our flag out of an American magazine that display American muscle .

Now that I see the pic I can understand what they were trying to do but it's still not the proper way to display our flag. The flag is supposed to never touch the ground. Not sure how else they could have made the same picture while using the flag in the proper way aside from doing it digitally.

Forget about placing the headers on flag, the America flag never touches the ground/floor/deck, period.

Don't forget, the mag is read by others; not only us TR owners. Maybe the LS and LT guys will have a say also. To boycott the mag is going a little extreme if the act was done on stupidity. Probably in the next issue, there will be an apology and they didn't realize it.

The ones to be pissed off at are the guys that set up the headers to have the pic taken. I would say these guys are the culprits: Matt Hauffe and Jose of Tune Time Performance ( www.tunetimeperformance.com ), GM High Tech author Justin Cesler and GM High Tech photographer Scott Parker.

I joined the GM High Tech Forums and posted this: http://forums.gmhightechperformance.com/70/8142680/magazine-comments/disgrace/index.html

There's no need to drop your subscription, I'm not dropping mine they just need to be more aware of what there doing in the future and give us a heart felt apology, and thats pretty much what I told them in my email to the editor. It's a great mag and even better when they put buicks in it:D let's not forget guys that one of the greatest things about being American is the compassion we show to our fellow man lets help fix this mistake and move on.

Gmhtp

As the photographer I take full responsibility. Justin (and Tune Time) had nothing to do with it. Clearly this was not meant as a sign of disrespect, however, I am aware of this custom and should have known better. We sometimes forget how much customs mean to people, as they largely make up our culture. However, there is nothing more American than the various ways in which we show our Patriotism and our opinions on what that is exactly. Our ability to express ourselves, our beliefs, our opinions, etc (free from persecution) is the very reason this country was founded.

You can expect a longer explanation and apology in an upcoming issue, however, for now please understand that it was not our intention to offend...especially those who have fought for this country.

again Brett you are WAY off base. that is a disgrace to the American flag.
Way off base? No, actually I was right on target. In fact, GMHT came in here to apologize and will apologize in the next GMHT like I thought they would so no im not off base at all.

I wasn't happy about the flag on the ground. My entire family goes back several generations of military... I have many friends who have served, or still serve. It's not just some silly custom... It means something...

I understand what GMHT was trying to do. I suppose it was good in theory if not execution.

At least GMHT had the stones to man up and handle this properly.

My ranting is complete.

Now, back to Buicks...

Thank you Sir,
All I ask it that no one forgets that someones loved one came home under that flag a couple of my friends did and it just hurts to see something happen to it when it shouldn't.

amazing that people get up in arms so fast about a piece of cloth yet nobody is sickened by the fact nobody speaks English in this ****ing country anymore

If my old man saw you do that he would knock your d!ck in the dirt. I like my job, or I would have done it myself. However, having said that, apology accepted. The mistake was honest, but you had better educate yourself on American flag etiquette or you're going to lose a LOT of readers...including me. Thanks again.

Unless your native American you have no foot to stand on with that BS about speaking english. This country was built by immigrants do you think they spoke english when they came off the boats? really!! people need to think before they speak I just may be an immigrant myself serving in YOUR army.

A piece of cloth? Really? I sent an email to them today explaining my displeasure with this picture. And this reply:

We're not talking about displaying a Christmas tree or a Menorah here, we're talking about desecrating the American Flag! "how much customs mean to people" You mean people who actually love this country? People who respect the flag and what it represents? You mean most Americans? I just don't get it. I learned at a very young age that the flag NEVER touches the ground, let alone, laying it down it the driveway and setting car parts all over it.

+1

The problem is that half the idiots in this country have no clue how or why we have the right to live here and enjoy our freedoms. My grampa tought me this when I was a kid. It meant more to him than pretty much anything. I just had to attend one of my very good friend's funerals last year. He was killed by a roadside bomb. He left his wife and 2 kids. That was a major eye opener for me. We have this country to live in at one heck of a price. People need to learn to respect that. Not throw the flag on the ground and put parts on it. Common GMHT, got your head out of your A$$. Are you that stupid?

Are you serious? A piece of cloth  that flag represents every person in this country that has gave there life fighting for the better of EVERYONE here. I have personally lost a few friends in the fire service and ALOT of family and friends in the military. To say it is just a piece of cloth is not only disrespectful to every person that serves this country its just flat out WRONG... I cant even comprehend why someone would call it just a piece of cloth :mad::mad:

Way to piss on every person that has sacrificed there live to make peoples lives better
