I've been avoiding renewing GMHTP now even though I've been a subscriber for quite a while.

I don't believe it's worth it for TR content, but I don't have a problem with that because the TR market is becoming a limited niche market and a magazine can't cater to that with new technology coming along all the time.

I like to stay current with new stuff and I really don't care what's going on in blue oval land, so I'm wondering if it's worth it from that aspect. Are there other/better mags out there? My other complaint is the renewal price of $3 per issue is only $1 off the newstand price and (to me) is signicantly less discounted that other magazine subs.

Any opinions?

Most of the articles are up on the website a month after it comes out. I but about one issue a year, the rest of the time I just bootleg them from the net. Nice reading though.

Yes Shane, that's another thing that annoys me. You get the info on the web for free, albeit later. Also, the mag doesn't have everything....some articles refer you to the web for the remainder or additional info.

Most other car mags are MUCH cheaper by subscription. But if you want GM only content it's decent reading... No one is going to have a magazine for turbo Buick powered cars alone. :( We aren't that big of a market. Too bad huh?

GM HTP is just that, GM only. No Fords allowed.

I like it for the content but I wish it were larger / more often. Rick is a great writer, he'll be gone from there out to Cali after a while anyway.

Me personally, I decided it wasn't worth it. I got really tired of reading about LT1s and LS1s, and finally gave up. I wanted a little more variety. Really liked the mag the first 2 or 3 years though.

I'm about to give up on Car Craft too, it was really good there for a couple of years, but they just switched editors and so far the magic seems to have gone for me.

I just renewed mine. The only complaint I have is I wish the issues were bigger. I can just about go through an entire magazine in one sitting. This is how I look at it. When I'm not reading about Buicks I'm reading up on the competition. Where can I get a bag of ice for my intake??

I agree Ben, I don't like the GMHTP viewpoint they have limited publishing space. I know it's business and ecnonomics, but it's also BS. I think it's more due to the fact of lack of advertisers.

Cheap magazine subscriptions

If you watch EBAY you can find deals on some magazines.
2 or 3 years ago i got a year of GMHTP for about $9. and a 3yr subscription to shape for my wife for $13.

The last couple years, I've renewed my GMHTP subscription thru this guy. His ebay store is http://stores.ebay.com/Blue-Sky-Magazines so you can check his ratings there.

The last time I renewed, I just paypalled him the money and included the renewal info. Here's his email if you want to contact him. bluesky@snowhill.com

Here's some of the prices of a few of the 700 available magazines he emailed me back in June.

GM HIGH TECH PERFORMANCE 6 $13.46
AUTO WORLD MAGAZINE 12 $8.23
AUTOMOBILE MAGAZINE 12 $10.22
AUTOWEEK 52 $12.73
CAR CRAFT 12 $7.75
HOT ROD 12 $9.25
POPULAR HOT RODDING 12 $10.22

I can forward the email I received if you want to see some of his prices.

That's great! I used to support the kids selling magainze renewals but I haven't see them for a while. When I was in college (with Abe Lincoln) they used to have similar ads on the walls...
