I recently ordered a 1/24 scale GMP Diecast Turbo T from an online Diecast vendor. When I picked up the item at the post office, I became ill! The car was shipped in the outer box that GMP uses. He did not put it in any other box or wrap it. He simply sent it in the box GMP issues with the car. The vendor stuck a Large address label on it. I mean large as in covering most of one side of the box. Then either the post office or the sender pasted priority mail stickers all over the box. Then if that was not enough, my post office not knowing any better used a large black marker to mark my name and PO Box on the box too. I tried to use a steam cleaner to get all of this off and some came off but a lot did not. There was no way to keep the labels from pulling off part of the cardboard with it. I own a detailing business and I am very familiar with removing auction tags, dealer logos, bumper stickers and such off of high dollar vehicles. Even with my expierience I could not save the box.
When I e mailed the vendor he did not seem concerned at all. Says he was at least glad that I received it ok. That he had been selling collectable diecasts for years and had sent many this way. His reply was that I was getting all worked up for nothing. Keep in mind my first approach to him was very courteous and just telling him that he might want to send more carefully. But once I received his responses back I about went through the roof. Am I being to picky about this? What do you think and what would your response have been? Keep in mind this is a GMP diecast, not a hot wheel!
