Bought the wife a 4 cyl. Equinox. Supposed to get 32 MPG highway. Highly disappointed with 25.3 MPG highway with cruise on set @ 72. Anyone else have the ECO engine? If so, what mileage are you getting?

it is a small engine in a big vehicle- it's going to have to work a little harder to keep the thing moving.
plus, it is winter time, and you were going kind of fast.
wait until the summer gas blends are out and drive closer to 60 and then see how it does.

my brother has an '04 Cavalier with the 2.2 Ecotec engine in it, and the best he's ever gotten was 34mpg. he bought the car brand new.
my 2.2 (not Ecotec- the trusty old bulletproof pushrod motor that the Ecotec replaced) 97 Cavalier was up to 39.8mpg when i sold it last summer, with 33 being the worst fuel economy i ever got with that car.
but my brother's car is a lot faster and just more fun to drive than my car was- even tho mine was a 5 speed and his is an auto.

Have you tried to check the MPG in the summer?

During the winter there are additives in our gasoline that lower the freeze point. Along with the different gas colder air is more dense making your Equinox work harder. Wait until summer...I bet you see a nice bump in your MPG.

Only have 4K miles

Bought it a few months ago--so we will see. GM suggest I get it "broke in". Get 10K on it, then get back with them (per phone). If it is still not satisfactory--they will turn the complaint over to another department. I can see where this is going. I hope you're right.

Is it the 2WD or AWD version?

I can see the AWD pulling down that mileage but the 2WD should yield better mpg's IMHO.

x2. Have experienced this in the HHR SS. (turbo ecotech 2.0)

I believe the new Ecotech is the one from Daiwoo. The Turbo one is the real one. My mileage has improved over the year I have had my Altima, power too. The stated MPG is at 65 so your not going to get better at 70...
