ill be goin most likely tues. I will be running in street trim(94 octane, skinny 235 BFG radials) any tips for max performance.
any tips on how I should tune:
-boost?
-fuel press?
-etc...

i'm also curious as how it will run with some race gas. I wont be able to drain my tank so it will probably be mixed. We'll see if I have the money. do you usually run more or less FP w/ higher octane?

and any other prep tips you can recommend would be great.

also any ideas of what I can expect 1/4 and mph wise?

thanks, Steve

Best advise I can give is do all your tuning ahead of time. I know I would've been much faster in daily driver trim than race trim because I only got a couple runs to get it right and I never got it right. Street tires at the track suck worse than on the street.

No, but tomorrow is my first day off I've had in two weeks. I'll get them up tomorrow. Can't laugh at the shape my paint is in though if I post pics of the intercooler lol.

Sounds like your combo is pushin for very low 12's, and with very good tuning, you just may get that 11 sec slip. Is there any port work done to your motor? I am going all out when the money comes in for my car. I want race porting, mild to high cam, race gas with alky injection, and all that with a big turbo and injectors. I am told that with those mods, a mid 11 with proper tuning is attainable. It seems you are just about there with your mods, so let us know.
p.s.- Get the scanmaster or TURBOLINK

I got one for ya...I was at the track with my buddy one night, we had his 87 GN out (before I bought my T-type)...and their were these guys their in a T...They had all the right parts (Big turbo, Big downpipe, Nice setup and a good tune), anyway they were running BFG Radial TA's and they NEVER quite fiddling with it...anyway so they had it idling in the lanes trying to tune it, messing with fp and the laptop and stuff...I think the first run was like 7.XX (1/8th mile track), and they got slower all night....that's right slower, we ended up beating them a couple of times with a stock turbo and 2.73 gears (some idiot put a 7.5 monte rear in the car  )...So lesson is let the car cool down and DON'T FIDDLE WITH IT...Change one thing at a time and think everything through before changing it...Sorry for the book.

racemybuick: i appreciate your predictions and as much as I'd love to agree, I got to say your WAY off. I think HIGH 12's may be likely w/ some drag radials and some race gas but with almost bald 235's and 94 octance and like 14-15#'s i'm PRAYING for a 13sec slip but 14's are likely I tihnk. We shall see. I will let all know Wednesday night!

Also, I have Scanmaster v2.1 but I just havn't opened my car up at all. I'm afraid of the cops:( I can't get in any more trouble so I don't mess around. I need to find a nice secluded stretch of road I can tune on b4 I go and make sure my FP and knock is OK. Finding a place like that around here is tought tho.

Thanks for the tips so far, Steve

;) Good, no need to even say anything. Youve obviously been paying attention :) Then again, youve got those 12" Kickers........... :p

As far as tuning, and tuning before getting to the track. Do it on the highway ;) . High gear (3rd) is where you are most likely to have kr issues. I could go on, but why not give you a link to the thread where it was broken down to me :) This is good info, take notes. I wish I had it when I first started:

Move down to the last few posts on the 1st page, to where I start getting reamed for running too much boost  . It then carries on to the 2nd page.

6Sense: great info, thanks alot! should help me out.

did u ever get back to the track after following that basic idea?

Yeah I did, but that leads to another long story. I had alot of problems with the block I was using at the time (.030 forged pistons), that I found out about the hard way. I apparently wasnt ever really doing anything wrong with tuning, its just that no matter what I did the engine would not respond. One problem was a wiped cam, then there was the lifter preload problem, and I can go on and on :( . Just wasnt moving the air.
Im curently using a stock block (std piston) that I had sitting, with most of my stuff slapped on it and running better than ever. Havent been to the track in a while, might go tommorow :)

sorry bout that

I thought you had a little tred on your bf's at least....and better than 14 lbs of boost with the turbo. Otherwise I woulda told you to stop on the way to the track and pick up some tires and alky injection! lol. My bad...you know what happens when we assume.... Once again, sorry. Your mods sound pretty mean, with the exhaust and chip and turbo, mild porting in the intake (reading your sig.) you gotta be pushing a good 12 sec car with tuning, tires and some wind againts the back of your car...Good luck!

Well just got back! was a COLD night (42 deg). I didn't break the 13 sec mark but i'm still happy. I got 5 runs in w/ the 3rd run being my best

14.235@95.92mph w/ 2.112 60ft. and about 13# boost. I will post all the specifics of everythin tomorrow but I'm beat....off to bed! later, steve
