Got to get downpipe clearance by rotating the turbo

I need a small amount downpipe clearance. I need to rotate the turbo clockwise. The header to turbo flange needs a little mod. I can do it fast and enlarge the stud holes by drilling them slightly bigger or the other option is to grind them oblong. Drill bit....one minute. Grinding them....hour or hours.:biggrin: Stock header. Anybody got thier opinion to give?

What downpipe you are using? I am waiting for my RJC DP to show up and curious if I will end up having to do the same mod. If needed, I was going to grind the holes oblong rather than drill an oversize hole.

oblong with a grinder.. about a 5 min job with a 4 min coffee break. Stop trying to make projects :biggrin:

My RJC was real close to the frame. Could barely get a piece of paper between them. I rounded out the holes on the downpipe and gave it a little more clearance, but I still wasn't happy with it. I ended up putting HR Mounts on it and it gave me about an inch of clearance, which is plenty.

I recently put in these mounts and now my damned DP is jammed between the heater box and the frame. It hits BOTH!
It never ends!

I like to find projects Grumpy. It's a external gate downpipe. I have HR mounts so i need to tweak a little. I didn't think young men like Grumpy drank coffee .

If your daughter and son-in-law will start racing again I will buy you a cup of coffee before qualifing. Heck bring that hybrid. I think we decided that hybrids are more than welcome to run TAI. I will show you a external downpipe even though you didn't need it to run 9.90's on pump gas. If it would have had a external pipe it would have been 9.80's.
