YouTube - Metallica-one

looks like a old metallica video, i was too young to ever watch when it came out. anyone can verify?

just found this thought it was pretty cool, i was searching for drum solo's from metallica and found it. Reguardless of what or where it came from, this song is freaking badass!

Yea it came out in 1991 I think. This video is what thrust Metallica into the limelight. I think it was there first video and a lot of people thought they sold out.

I have to laugh when fans claim bands "sell out". Hmm, you work hard, write lots of songs, gain popularity, live like a bum, then a talent agent offers you a record deal to make alot of money. You can now pay back people, eat, live somewhere besides a van and help your family have a better life. Selling out is obviously a bad thing. A bad thing for fans who have nothing to live for other than being your fan. Bah. The fans can eat dog food if they like instead of giving in to "the man".

You have to agree that the "Black" album is when they started to suck - they just totally suck now...

Selling out doesn't mean you sign a record deal and make money. selling out means you write music that's more "mainstream" and therefore sells to a much broader spectrum of fans. Do you think metallica was living in a van when they released "justice"? hell no, they were very well-off then. Did they have a record deal? yes. But instead of sticking to what won them a cult following of loyal fans (i.e.-thrash, heavy metal) they went and dropped a turd known as the "black album" and turned their backs on what brought them to the dance. I mean come on, going from lyrics like "DARKNESS! IMPRISONING ME! ALL THAT I SEE! ABSOLUTE HORROR!!" to "let my heart go, let your son grow". I was probably the biggest metallica fan in the world, until a string of suck-a$$ albums left me feeling like i felt when i found out Cliff Burton died... He must've been doing backflips in his grave when the sissy-a$$ black album was released.

I had every album even when the Black Album came out. I still enjoyed it..

Has anyone listened to lyrics from today's popular bands?

WHen Metallica is making music for tampon commercials that's SOLD OUT to me. :D

Yep. I agree with that.

Heck, when they started sueing people for using the name metallica is when they really sold out. I can understand trademark infringement but to slap a multi million dollar lawsuit on Revlon because they had a line of lipstick called metalica is beyond me. Not to mention all that silly Napster BS!

Well, i guess there are different degrees of selling out (apparently  ) but to me, going from ESP's with emg 81's and mesa boogie mark 4's to fender twin reverb's and gretsch arch-top hollowbodies to "diversify the sound" (should read "difersify audience") is changing your target listener, AKA SELLING OUT!!!
