Has anyone had any claim experience with these guys?

I just signed up my T. $315 for a full year with no mileage restrictions. I know that you are not supposed to drive the car to work or on errands. Are there other restrictions?

I am curious to see if anyone filed a claim though them and how it worked out. Also, did they reimburse you for the full insured amount or was there a fight on value?

Thanks,
Larry

About 5 years ago I filed a claim on my 64 electra and they paid off in 3 weeks with no problems.

Not sure about those guys, but one cool thing about collector car insurance in NJ is that you don't have to go through inspection if you get the collector vehicle registration. The tradeoff is that during inspection they check your mileage every year and you are not supposed to go over 3,000 miles or something like that. I think it has to specify 'limited use' in the insurance policy.

Just make sure your odometer doesn't read more than 3,000 (or whatever the limit is) miles then your previous inspection, and you are golden. ;)

This is how the kit cars, cobra replicas, etc get registered. I decided not to use it after I passed inspection. Not sure if Grundy's applies or not, but its something to keep in mind if you end up doing radical changes to the car and don't feel like hassling with inspection and emissions.

Pretty good crowd at freehold last night, by the way. Maybe you can bring the T next month and get a few of us together.

Murph- collector car insurance has nothing to do with collector car registrations.. 2 seperate things..
You can have one without the other..

Oh, I know that. You do need collector car insurance to get the collector car vehicle registration though and a lot of people don't know that there even is a collector car registration. Since he already has the collector car insurance, just thought he should know there are some options in case he gets all gung ho and realizes he can't pass inspection anymore (or just doesn't feel like prepping the car for it). At his rate that should be in about 3 months. ;)

Reginald West,

Can I ask what was the circumstances surrounding your claim. Were you in their "box" of circumstances that are allowed or not?

Scott,

I'm sending you an e-mail regarding the collector insurance and inspections.

Frank,

What has your experience been with the collector insurance and registration?

Thanks in advance,
Larry

Scott,

By the way, I am good for at least another two weeks before I decide to do something else to the car. And you know for sure, that I will be asking your advice for the next mod.

Not in pa you don't .. Like I said they have nothing to do with each other.. in pa, you can can have one without the other..Im pretty sure its th esame in NJ.. There are many different 'collector' car rsgistrations ... Classic, antique, colector vehicle, street rod, etc. These have nothingto do with whether you have collector insurance or not..

In what respect? These have NOTHING to do with each other. You can have collector insurance with regular tags(me) and you can have 'collector' tags with regular insurance..

In NJ (not pa) you definitely need collector car insurance to get the collector vehicle registration. I know this as a fact and to back it up I even provided a link. Every state's different.

Here's a link to the NJ replicar club www.njreplicar.org one of the organizations responsible for getting collector vehicle registration in NJ. There are many articles buried within and some insurance companies listed that will qualify. The former president of the club was the one who told me the ins and outs of the collector vehicle registration in NJ when I bought my car.

Getting the collector car insurance is probably the hardest part of getting collector vehicle registration in NJ. Once you have that and show proof its insured as a limited use collector vehicle, you just fill out a special form for the registration and thats about it. The 3,000 mileage limit is the tough thing (they actually check it every other year so its 6,000 miles in two years).
