Nick, that is good to hear.As I said I wont miss the event I just would like to see more people there thats all. BTW, Bennet accussed me of sending him a falsified copy of a check he stamped and cashed. I got tired of fighting with him (when I got ahold of him) so I just took the loss.

Mike, I plan to again be involved helping with the race program in BG for 2004. We like to hear comments from the members so we can respond, or at least explain why things are done. We have many compromises to deal with at the track.

We try to keep street cars and strip cars running in groups. If the water box is too wet for the faster cars, it gets brought to the line and screws with traction. We can always spray the box if the driver indicates such.

Having been involved and participated in drag racing for many years, I hope Richard and John allow me continued involvment in the race program at BG as I feel it has, and will continue to be the best Buick racing event of the year in all aspects.

i dont know why every one is complaining. It was like a 5 day track rental, No pressure at all. You want to make a pass? get in line. You dont have to wait for them to call you to the lanes.Except when running a gamblers race or the such. You could make as many passes as you want. Or just hang for a while and then make a pass. And i dont think i ever waited maybe any longer than 15-20 minutes, sometime no wait at all!!
Otto
And all the hanging out with only buicks was great. No junk ricers or scrappy idiots racing crappy cars.

Exactly, a one day track rental here is usally 100-125 bux a day depending on how many cars you get. If you arrive in BG to race Tuesday & Wednesday alone, you've gotten your $ worth.

Anyways, back to my original post..it wasn't meant to be a "Beat up on BG" thread...just saying I got my reservations and it's right around the corner!! :)

Hey Nick, here's an idea that may hold water.

The tower PA/announcer is (or should be anyway) broadcast on an AM station. Not only should that be announced, but it should be printed in the booklet. With that being done, you can eliminate any potential complaints about not being able to hear the lane assignments, class callings, etc. from the PA.

Lemme apoligize in advance if that is already done...and if so, anyone that compalins about the PA should be apoligized because the don't RTFM!

For whatever it is worth and I hope someone listens to me.

Quick 16 (Super 16) should be what the name implies. Quickest 16 cars run in one bracket, whether big block or turbo. I disagree on separating big blocks and turbos. One of the benefits should be bigger payout. Last year there were less than 16 cars in the Super 16 turbo class.

I have been told that some turbo guys do not want to run big blocks. No one asked me. I do not have any problem in running with the big blocks.

From what little I know, that is not the reason big blocks and turbos run 2 different super 16 classes.

It is the people that put up the $$$$, sponsors, that have said they will only sponsor turbo cars. What needs to be done, not easy though, is to obtain more sponsors!:)

This is the part I have problems with……….. POLITICS! I deal with enough of it at work.

I will agree that this year’s event was the best-run GS Nationals that I have ever attended. As stated before, track preparation was the best I remember.

Nick Micale-
i know last year alot of guys had a hard time hearing you and your speech during the drivers meeting next to the tower last year-

could we get a bull horn or a microphone/speaker to speak into cause me and the 5 rows behind me asked you a few times to SPEAK UP:D

thanks
BW

I didn't have any problems with the water box.

My problem is not being able to know who's who.

If you properly sent in a registration form with payment and a packet was not available at the Nationals, requiring you to repay, the Nationals will refund all your monies. A FREE Nationals. Complete documentation is required. Because of the money involved it becomes obvious to a persons motives when they do not send in documentation. I answered all calls from Mr. Cornett. I told Mr. Cornett I needed a copy of the cancelled check front and back. Mr. Cornett would not send in a copy of the cancelled check front and back.

Chris I am very happy Bennett replied to your situation. Please handle this directly with him and let us know how it works out. I have worked well with him in the past and feel he will do the right thing.:)

Oh sure.

A couple of years ago I sent in my check to reup my GSCA membership. When it was time for the magazine to arrive and didn't I phoned and spoke to "Mark". He said to send another check as they never received my first one. I did so. Lo and behold I saw on my next bank statement both checks were deposited in the bank on the same day and I had both checks returned with my statement as cashed.

I phoned back and requested a refund for the extra money I had sent. "Mark" told me to send copies of fronts and backs of both checks. I did. Nothing happened. I phoned back again....was told I would be receiving a refund. Nothing ever arrived.

Around this time on the GSCA board others were complaining about different problems and it said that Ron Joseph was handling problems of this sort. I got in touch with Ron via email. He said his wife was handling these problems. She got in touch with me and I explained the problem to her. After a few more emails I waited. And waited and waited. I sent her one final email and she never replied.

The next year I was given a "free" subscription. Keep in mind this "free" one was the one I'd already paid for a year in advance. In other words the GSCA got to use my money for a year and had me locked in for another subscription whether I wanted one or not.

I dropped my membership after this as I don't wish to be part of an organization that treats it's members with arrogance and disdain.

I have heard all this before and I did provide you with what you requested. I have washed my hands of this as it was back in 01. The reason you told me that I was out the money was because the lady working at the GSCA tent who took my money for the second time did not sign my registration form. Oh well I guess that is my fault as well. BTW, I also talked with Richard on this matter and he said I would have to deal with Bennett. So the next time you read your GSX-TRA and hear Richard say "no one ever tells me there is a problem" just keep this in mind. As I stated before this is water under the bridge and will not keep me from renewing club membership or attednding the GS Nationals. I am a member becuase I love my Buicks and everything they stand for. I just sometimes wish all the BS was not attached with it.

my 2 cents worth

the announcements were hard to hear in the pits, i know that is the track's fault. we hung around late friday night thinking they were going to run tso because we didn't hear the announcements. maybe something should be posted somewhere that tells lane assignments and such. when i went up and asked about getting in line for tsm saturday, i was told to get in line and we'll sort it out when the time comes. car show results should also be posted, i didn't know i had a trophy until the cars were going down the track. and i don't know why people stay away because of the forecast, rain is predicted every day in kentucky in april and may. the only way to predict the weather here is to stick your head out the window.
super 16 should be heads up, watching a potential 7 second pass end with brake lights is not cool. run a pro street for the tubbed cars and a small tire class heads up, anything goes.
