Its not only me, that has found no improvement comparing the gtq70 vs the p trim 70. Ken seggie from National performance has been very consistant this year, and only changed the turbo, no other components have been changed. The et on both turbos are the same with the identical boost. This is on a stock block 231 and stock iron heads and headers. I am swtiching back to the p rim as its the fastest et i have run with so far.

I am not sure why this turbo does not work any better any ideas?

Norbs,
Im also confused about your results. Everyone who has switched to it has gained performance. I can belt out numerous TSM racers who did after the switch with to either the PTE or Limit version.

We documented gains during the dyno testing for the upcoming GM High Tech Mag article. Did you ever run it with the larger exhaust housing?

I never ran it with the larger housing, but it is a 4 bolt .69 seggies is a 3 bolt .81 i think. The fastest time mph i got was with the 133.5 mph with the 70p the gtq is 131, and the fast is showing the car is running richer with the gtq than with the ptrim as its taking more fuel out on the o2 corection with the gtq. I just don't know whats wrong.

Are you able to build the same boost with the Q as the P at the line? What were your 60 ft and 330 with both the Q and P trim. I am just trying to see if the Q trim was being a lag monster out of the hole.

I had lots of boost it spools not bad, but i used the transbrake, so its not a far comparison of the two. 1.57 transbrake gtq, 1.59 foot brake p trim. I have to find the time slips still for the other data. Been busy cutting up atr headers to fit:(

I WENT WITH THE LIMITED VERSION OF THE GT70 P.ONLY BECASE I WAS THINKING THE SPOOL UP OF THE Q TRIM WOULD BE SLOWER WENT 130 WITH IRONS AND THE TSM LEGAL 24PSI

im gonna try out a 66 double bb p trim to see what the difference is. ill post the results

Is that an Innovative model?

If so what stall you going to be using with the 66?

TIA :)

welp,

dynoed it today.

lost 20 hp
gained 26 lbs ft of torque

my peak was at 4000 rpm and stayed somewhat flat till 6200.

car feels very nice with the smaller turbo but the top end charge isnt there.

anyone got a 70 dbl bb for sale?

Let me know if you are gonna sell that used worn out double BB 66.

I have an old lady and a few kids I may be interested in parting with, But you're not getting my balls!

Jason

Kids?......... ummmm........ no thank you. :D

Good luck with it, might just get another Inn. 70 DBB since they work fine on a stock motor with low stall. 3200. :)

Two cars, lotsa balls.

I am sad to announce the gtq is off the car and the p trim will be going on for a back to back race track comparison. Same day, same air, same fule same boost same a/r. Just hope i can make it back before the snow falls.

put the gtq 71 back on, and ran 3 tenths and 3 mph faster.

i will never doubt it again.

Werent you running a 66 before picking up 3 teths running the 71gtq? If so then I dont think thats what Norbs is comparing. I believe he was comparing the same size turbo, (compressor wheel) std to a GT.
