wow killer times. now give it a good launch turn the boost up and lets see how much she will take :)
Nope. I dont want to break the bottom end. Ive done it before and its not a fun thing. Trans has stock input, planet and ring gear and rear has stock spline replacement axles. Wait till i get the other engine that was in the blue car together and ill post some Nasty times on the stock block. Then next year ill throw that engine with a fuel system, rear work, and suspension work in this car and run it hard. It will go mid 9's minimum. Id think with a 1.53 60' 60 degree air and 28 psi it would have gone 10.40's pretty easily and maybe 10.30's but i would be cutting it close on the fuel delivery with the 50's.

what budget build

this is your list

Black GN:Stock shortblock except cam ,KB 70 mm TB and plenum, ported irons 1.77in 1.5ex, RJC head gaskets, ported stock intake, 212-212 comp roller, 1.65 T&D's, RJC powerplate, 1" plenum spacer, 50 lb injectors, double pumper, stock MAFS -1 screen, Turbo Tweak chip, DIY alky from 1998, G-Body FMIC, welded ported stock manifolds, 3.5 dp, T72BB P-trim, AC 9.5" 2800 stall, 200 4-R by me with billet shafted forward drum, 8.5 rear with Auburn and 28 spline Moser axles .

maybe i'm nuts but i dont see budget or see tens at "600-700 buckaroos" (labor not included)
cheap shortblock yeah but budget high tens , not
whats budget about a T72BB p-trim, (1600)
doublepumper (500)
about 1.65 T+Ds (650)
3.5 DP (600)
gbody fmic (750 )
Kenne bell 70mm TB and plenum (450+)
ported big valve heads (800+)
212-212 roller (800+)

and you still have to figure in the trans ,rear ,suspenion and tires to get the HP to the ground

more like high 10s for 10K

still nice times nonetheless

It turned out to be a budget for me because i already had all the parts on hand from previous builds or other cars ive owned or worked on over the years. The only thing i didnt have was the TT chip fro 50 lb injectors. Also please note that if i bought parts to only run 10.80's i would have gone with a lot less and different stuff like stock rocker arms, smaller turbo, dp'r, etc. but the parts were here so i might as well have used them. It should also be noted that i build my own transmissions and this is a very mild effort with only the forward drum replaced for a better piece. I agree this is not a budget build for a TR owner that has little extra cash or cant build their own trans. No one could run or has run 10.xx very cheap. This proves that you can simply bolt on a bunch of stuff and run 10's in under a weeks time. The car had no engine or trans in it 4 days before that pass. Anyone could do it if they had the parts and or $ on hand.

Brian - I knew you'd do somthing interesting with that block and I am glad it has held up for you as I hoped it would! Nice job!

hahahahahaha.... look at some cars in here that run in the 12s that SHOULD run 10's .. $15/$20k set ups  :p

That goes for all different kinds of cars. Im constantly seeing cars runnning slower than they should. With the tuning tools available today this should not be. They should be able to dial it all in in a few days.

That is sweet... 10.885@126 Black GN:Stock shortblock except cam ,KB 70 mm TB and plenum, ported irons 1.77in 1.5ex, RJC head gaskets, ported stock intake, 212-212 comp roller, 1.65 T&D's, RJC powerplate, 1" plenum spacer, 50 lb injectors, double pumper, stock MAFS -1 screen, Turbo Tweak chip, DIY alky from 1998, G-Body FMIC, welded ported stock manifolds, 3.5 dp, T72BB P-trim, AC 9.5" 2800 stall, 200 4-R by me with billet shafted forward drum, 8.5 rear with Auburn and 28 spline Moser axles

Can you post the time slip?

T72BB P-trim, AC 9.5" 2800 stall:eek:

How is the turbo on the street?

It sucks with that converter on the street. Keep in mind its a P-trim not a GTQ. I was going to run it with the TE44 but JRSGN convinced me to throw on the 72. The 44 was a tire fryer. It needs 300-400 more rpm stall to work good with the 72. Just softens the hit on the street the way it is now. It would be better with a 6776BB and a 3000 stall.

Here is all of it:

1.669 60'
4.563 330'
100.95 1/8 mph
6.993 1/8 mile
9.100 1000'
126.00 1/4 mph
10.885 1/4 mile

...And a lot of my hours last week.

Yah Im sure....

Still Damn Good....and yes for the price of the SHORTBLOCK that you posted....which was what "6-700 buckaroos?"

Outstanding....

$550 for the shortblock. $50 for fluids and gaskets. No engine or trans in car on Friday. Lots of high performance parts bolted on. Engine and trans in car Saturday. Some moderate boost on Monday. Re-torque on Tuesday afternoon. Turn up the boost Tuesday night. 10.88@126 Wednesday night. Driving home from the strip passing all the trailered street cars(after all it was "street night" at LVD) Priceless! I always make sure i wave to the slower trailered car owners:biggrin: .

Makes me jealous.... I'm about $2000+ into my 10 sec buildup... and the engine is still at the machine shop....
