man you need to use some of that time man.. i was thinking i had a ton at 150hrs...
took the sheriff test last weekend and passed with 300 other people, the test was taken by 650 people. once a pre-background check was started, i had 1 to many tickets over a 7 year window.. so that DQ'd me..
other PD's only look at a 5 year window, so i should be OK and i'm set up for some testing dates for them..
Still in the process for a couple of Fed Law Enforcement jobs.. i'm really pulling for those jobs :)
other then that.. just chillin and working on paying off bills..
Not a chance of me taking any appreciable time off from work. If I take anything more that a couple of casual days off the company will want me to train somebody. I personally don't believe in training my replacement until I am reasonably close to retirement, about a year and a half away. Be very careful in training people in any manufacturing or aerospace environment these days, it probably will turn out to be your replacement that you are training, and the company might be planning on your retirement somewhat earlier than you are. Homie don't do that. I didn't get this old by being lame.

Happy Belated Friday to everybody, and I hope that everybody that wants to be working is still working. Looks like the company where I work would like to know how I feel about early retirement, without officially asking me about it. Sounds like a set-up to me, as I am certain that where I work does not believe in work force reduction, or lay-off, to put it in everyday terms. Not good. I have seen about 15 or so people leave the company over the last 3 years or so, and I am certain that virtually none were laid off, or left due to a work force reduction, which in Kalifornication allows one to collect unemployment compensation, and entitles one to severance pay, depending upon how long the employee has bee there. I actually think that some of their working hours were made so miserable at work that they quit in frustration, no soup for them. I think that some that were off on medical leave for any length of time at all were forced to go to the company's doctor for a medical release, even after seeing their own doctor and getting a release, and were denied a release to return to work. No soup for them. Looks like the best that I am going to be able to do is find a good attorney that specializes in "employee rights". I am about a half year away from collecting Medicare, or any medical benefits, and about a year and a half from full retirement. Sounds like no soup for me either, unless I am willing to spend the time and money in a legal claim. There are far too many people out there willing to work for next to nothing and with the economy the way it is, that condition is only going to get worse.
Good Luck to everybody and I hope that this whining does somebody else some good.

ha Tim i had a few to many.

I can relate.
A few nights back, my local team took me out for Dinner.

Someone decided it was time to break open a bottle of good local Chinese rice wine. Stuff is 53% alky and tates like sweetened paint thinner.

The local tradition is that each person toasts with the boss. So what that meant was at a table with 8 people, I got toasted by each of them. This amounted to me doing 8 hits of the nectar to each one that they did.
...And then the cycle repeated over and over.
By the time it was all over...I was speaking Chi-knee

;-)

Dang, GaryM
Hope that works out for the best.
My Uncle got similarly burned by his employer a few years back

Blows my mind how easy it is for companies to avoid holding up their end of the contract when it comes to pension plans and severance pay for the working man/woman yet some CEO who runs his banking firm into the toilet while neglecting his responsibilities can still parachute away to safety filthy rich and set for life.

Shouldn't be too hard to find amongst the zillions...

When I find him, I'll go all Drunkin' Master on him and give him five across the eyes for ya.

Here we are once again...

Happy Friday to all. My parts still have not come in:( . Guess I wont be putting the Black Brick together this weekend. Hope everyone else is spooling well:) .
