I had this happen to me many years ago and it was raw fuel burning in the exhaust manifold but I can't for the life of me remember what caused it. It was either---oh, I remember now!!! The car was almost brand new. For some reason one or more injectors were just dumping fuel like they were shorted open or something. The motor didn't suffer any damage but Buick replaced the stock injectors and also replaced the turbo because they figured all that fuel would ruin the seals and bearings in the turbo. The oil was very contaminated with raw fuel. The car was basically getting flooded but once I got it to fire all that fuel would begin to burn off. You may have something different going on but excess fuel will burn cherry red in the exhaust.

yea i got brand new injectors and before i fired my new motor up it held pressure for 4 days before i fired it up and now my pressure bleeds down in an hr.

I don't have the same results, but when I first started with my new motor it would hold pressure for several hours. Now it bleeds down in an hour or shorter, what causes this?

1/2 hour or more sems to be relatively normal as far as I know. Don't know why the length of time might change-either the injectors never seal as well as they do when brand new or --- ugh, I got nothing.

Appreciate the effort though, somebody will post an explanation to compliment yours I am sure

Definitely agree with a couple stuck open injectors. Try swapping them with 2 from passenger side and see if problem follows the injectors. If not, then double check all connections from injector backwards. May have gotten a small bur or something inside the larger connector under coil pack that's causing a short across a couple leads.

computor been down for a couple days anyway talked to a couple people and they said this is normal?????

Happens to me just about every break in on a new motor. don't sweat it. No air moving through the engine compartment at high RPM (more than idle) = heat

confuse about something??
Are you taking about the header getting red at 3 and 5 cylinder wen you were doing the breaking (which wood be normal in some cases apparently for breaking in) or are you trying to De glaze the cylinder walls/piston?
