I think my heated [GM] O2 is going bad....not really sure though. What is a good "range" for cross counts at idle?

I get 1 - 5, seems kinda low....any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks,

I see that you're running the T+/Extender. Do you by chance have the open loop idle mode turned on? If so, your cross counts will be very low or none at all.

Dave,
I do run the TPlus and extended air chip (rev E). Scan tool indicated learn control "on" while I was idling with low cross counts, does that mean it was in closed loop?

If not, how can I check to see if I have it in open loop mode...
Thanks,
Nish

My heated O2 seems dead at idle too. When driving, it cycles properly. I have a JC chip. Don't think it's an open loop idle chip. I just suspected there's something in the heated O2 circuitry that makes it lazy at idle.

Don't worry too much about what the learn light is telling you. Look and see if your scan tool is telling you whether or not you'r in open or closed loop.
Unless you specifically put the Extender in open loop idle mode, it probably isn't.
On those rare occasions when I'm NOT in open loop idle, I seem to remember my cross counts looking fairly normal at idle, but it's been so long I can't remember for sure now.
I'm fixing to try some changes in my chip profile this weekend so I'll leave open loop idle off, and see what my CC's look like during normal closed loop idle.

Dave,
Did you get any cc data when you put your car in closed loop? Also, why do you run in open loop most of the time.....
Thanks
Nish

Yes, when I chaged over to closed loop idle, the cc activity was very high (as I suspected).

I don't run open loop "most of the time" just open loop idle. Makes for a nice smooth idle (because it's richer).
