We live in a small town in Kansas, population about 600 if you count the cats and dogs:cool:

My neighbor, 37 years old, was diagnosed with Lung Cancer about 6 months ago and he hasn't been able to work since. (Treatments etc)

He actually had part of a lung removed and may need more operations.

He is married with a boy age 4 and a newborn baby girl. My wife and kids and I try to help whenever we can. $$$ is real tight for them. Thank God for a small town!! Our local Bank has "postponed" their house payments until they can get back to work.

Well anyway, today we held a benefit Pulled Pork dinner for them at our local American Legion Post #166.

About 400-500 people made it through and we raised about $8000 for this young family. Trust me I know $8000 won't last long, but I am proud of our community for helping out.

We all get wrapped up in work, play, toys, etc....... please take a "time out" just to enjoy your family and life.

Ty

$8000 is grat for a small town. Its great to hear to hear when people help each other out.

Wow, this would never happen in California...
God bless you guys for trying to help.

That is great to hear Ty!!! I really wish there was more of this type of thing going on for people that have illnesses such as Cancer that need the financial help rather than people that donate money to some charity that is "supposed" to support research for a cure. When you donate to these charities you really have no idea where your money is going to and at least in this case you get to see it go to the actual people that need the help even if it's to pay some of their outrageous medical bills or put some food on the table. My mother lost her battle with Breast Cancer a little over a year ago so I can definitely sympathize with what this family must be going through.

Thanks a bunch guys, every prayer helps!

Ty

Very nice of you! I will pray for them too!

Nice thing to do TY and it's not too shabby of an amount for a small town like that! Hope things get better for them..
