Most hot air parts are tough to find - some gaskets are impossible. Gary was right the last time and I had to make the EGR chambre gasket - pretty easy actually. This time more difficult. I was within a few hours of turning the key on my complete rebuild when we realized the local GM dealer had sold me the wrong vaccum block gasket (25536028).

Checked another dealer and after market store with no luck. Did learn correct discontinued part number however.

Can anyone give me a clue as to how to get the right one (25523056).

I don't even have the old one to use as a template for a "make your own".

Help

we had them made new .
complete TB set up for an 84-5 is $12.00
Includes vacuum block,Iac & Iac housing gaskets.

Thank the lord - yea

I saw the billet aluminum vaccum block but when i clicked on, it said gaskets coming soon.

Please - how do i go about ordering the gasket set you refer to - call the number?

I am cautiously happier now!

Loctite gasket eliminator will do the same. ..been using it for years with zero trouble.......any automotive parts store should have it

throttle body gaskets

Let me know if you still need the gasket I have some extraas:

You can also make this on too, I did. If you have the old gasket just trace it onto a piece cardboard from a cereal box. Cut out the unwanted sections with a razor knife, and make the holes by twisting a drill bit by hand. Then trace it onto a piece of regular soft 1/32 fiber gasket material that you can buy at any auto parts store. Don't worry about making the circular sections around the outside of the center two holes, just make the lines straight so it is rectangular shape. Last trace and cut the outside.

If you don't have your old gasket to use as a template get a regular magic marker. Color the bottom of the vacuum block with the marker then press it onto the cardboard. You will now have an outline of the block to make a template
I made the template on the cardboard so I can easily make one at any time. You can also trace it right onto the gasket material too.
Here is the template I made.

We have to keep em running. It is great that we have G Body Parts in our corner who wants to help the 84/85 owners by making parts for our cars and by all means give them your business. When I needed my gasket they were nowwhere to be found and necessity is the mother of invention. We just need a properly fitting rubber upper radiator hose now.

Gary- Good post- I just ordered a set of throttle body gaskets from GBODY for my hot air. Upper radiator hose- No problem- NAPA 7899. Here is a PIC of it. Take care- Brad

We did come out with a stainless upper rad hose for the hot air cars as well.
Just never got it on the site. If you guys are interested we can offer them.
I had like 60 built. Just been too busy to get em up.
The gasket sets should be on the site tonight.

I also just got a ported Hot air Throttle body gasket in as well.

Sorry for hijack

Thanks Brad, in a pinch I know I could always use that one. After looking at the correct one for all these years I would like to keep it that way.

Brian, did you ever look into or consider having a correct upper rubber hose made ?

Update

Had a call from GBody yesterday and the gasket set is now on its' way to me.

Thanx everyone for the help.

I just picked up an AC Delco upper rad hose that looks just about perfect. Need to trim two inches off the rad and thermostat housing ends. I plan on getting back to the car on the weekend so I'll post a pic of how it turns out.

On another note; I had my rad recored during the rebuild and I foolishly agreed to the "Rad experts" opinion that I should move to four core since there was "lots of room" - like hell there was!! Sure there was no problem creating four cores with existing tanks but when I went to install I couldn't bolt the fan cowl to the crossmember - out about 1/2 inch from the bolt holes.

Solution - and thank god there was one - cut the channel on the top of the core down to a plate. This gave me enough room to set the rad under the cross member and still be cushioned by upper and lower rubber inserts - yea, at least I win one!
