It looks like you already have a few names in mind, one will stick. How about Fella as you already said?
My family has had quite a few cats but me and my girl have had 5.
Agnes (he is a boy but when a baby thought he was a girl ) Sometimes we call him Joey, which is funny as that is what our neighbor calls him when he goes over to her place.
Spring; named so because that was how she was found; meowing with her neck wrapped in a box spring; momma cat dropped her down trying to hide her.
Pun; fat gray cat reminded us of the rapper Big Pun
Freddy Jr- offspring of Spring and neighbor cat, "Freddy Tuxedo" (black and white cat)
Squirt- Sister to Freddy Jr (Jr was taken)
Of course I have a bird that I have had for about 12 years that my GF tried to name but it never stuck. I just cal her "Bird". She seems fine with it.
I love the human names too it makes me laugh. My kitty is a tabby, looks alot like you new addition. Her name is Dee. I'm crazy I know, but she's such a sweetie. I've got her bling bling on her collar, it's a capital "D" with fake diamonds! I know...I know...

Tyrone or somethin like that. I had a cat that looked similar. Same thing. He just showed up one day and didn't leave. We eventually fed his ass and he stopped clawing the **** out of everyone. He started to get buck wild and so I yelled at him "No way buddy" and he liked buddy and so it stuck. But we soon learned to call him Mr. Buddy as he was the ruler of his domain and commanded respect. But I like "tyrone"...or somethin like that.
