Took the car for a little ride. Wanted to adjust TV cable to see how different it would feel. Pushed in the button tugged on it and it slid the opposite way pretty far. so i moved it back to close where it was. Now it shifts into 2nd around 3200 rpm on a normal acceleration. And won't shift into 3rd. Tried moving adjustment of TV around to fix it. Can't get car to shift into 3rd. What could i have done. It shifted fine before i touched cable.

Dunno what is your immediate problem... but the right way to adjust the TV cable is to press the tab.... slide the TV cable housing all the way toward the firewall (in) ..... then release the tab..... and depress (with engine not running) the throttle to wide open... it will adjust itself where it is supposed to be....

I tried adjusting it today the proper way. Seems to be shifting correctly now. When I originally tried to move it when it was shifting good. I moved it about 1/2 an inch. Will moving way out of position cause the shift points to go off that far? How sensitive are these cables?

The TV cables are very sensitive.
You only want to move them one "click" or detent at a time. Half an inch is ALOT! (sorry to shout)
One or two clicks toward the firewall should make the trans shift firmer.
