High RPM's on 1-2 shift

Had my trans rebuilt about 2 years ago and it's been flawless up until a few months ago...the RPM's on the 1-2 shift have been in the 5600-5900 range which I think is too high...used to be in the 5100-5300 range before...I removed the pan and it looks pretty clean...little bit of dust...fluid looks/smells OK...the guy that built the trans seems to think it may be the band slipping and to try a different servo pin tip(longer)...I've also read that it could possibly be a governer problem...any ideas...

I've heard alot of things suggesting the weight attached to the governor spring can be modified to change the shift rpm. I've got a similar issue more evident between the 2-3, and am going to try this.....I'm also curious what the symtoms of an old timing chain are? Can this cause over rev'ing between gears?

Big Turbo 6, are you getting this flare between 2/3 most times under acceleration? If so you are cavatating and will burn your clutches soon if you don't fix it. As a test, add on extra quart of fluid to see if it changes. If so, get a deeper pan and a bottom feeder sump. That will cure it. Mark

Well this thing prolly already has burned clutches then. It shifts great during normal driving, tv cable makes it shift firmer. But WOT is a whole nother ball game. 1-2 and 2-3 will over-rev and I can hear a "ting" "ting" noise if I don't feather the pedal. Killed me at the track, and I'm as poor as they come so I don't see a rebuild happening unless I try to do it myself, and I'm no tranny mechanic. Added an extra court of Type-F today and it did act a "tad" better....hung in there a little longer....but I still had the same problem.
