As this dumb show had a GN if Dancing with stars had a GN on it I would watch!
Yes sir! You got that right. I don't understand the big fuss it's a fun show and in prime time with a GN! Just enjoy the free advertising our cars are getting.

For some reason i don't think anything happened to the gn. It was all staged. Let's be honest there was no way the other 2 morons were going to drive a 700hp car. And if the block was toast no way tug of war would have happened. Again it's nice to see and hear it. I enjoyed it for what it is

I was actually shocked that they left out the 5.0 Mustang. Admittedly, it did a good job keeping the performance car flag flying in the 80s. Gave all the 5 liter F-bodies fits until the 5.7 became an option.

Plus, Turbo Buicks have always had a healthy appetite for horse meat. :hungry:

At first, I was hoping that someone would post a link to this show. After reading about the "Entertainment" described in this thread, maybe it's better ya don't. Sounds like this is right up there with Fast 5.

Keep in mind!
The 67 Mustang fastback's value went through the roof because of Bullet and Gone in 60 Seconds #2. (Can you say Eleanor?)
Even a 17 second Trans Am can be valued off the charts as a "Legendary Performance Car", if Bert Reynolds looks good in it.

At some point in time, we must ask ourselves. Do we really want the publicity? Personally, I think it is kinda cool, being an affordable, low profile, off-shoot of a Regal, that many people (suckers) haven't heard about. I like flying under the mainstream radar. This is one reason our Kill Section is lined with stories of six figure exotic owners, scratching their heads, as to what went wrong:eek::D.

Historically speaking, look at some of the other cars that have held the title as America's Quickest production cars. When was the last time you saw a Hemi Cuda, or a 70 454 Chevelle at a stop light? They get six figures for them now. People have either sold them, or can't afford to drive them. Part of me wants to see the recognition that these cars deserve, and the other part wants to say " What!, It's ONLY a V6"...

I know that these cars are destined for much more greatness than they have now. Let's just try not to tell anyone about it.:D

Alot of people cant afford to keep gas in those 60's and 70's muscle cars to drive them all that much these days. When you only got 7 to 10 mpg on a good day puttin around in the city and were lucky to get 9 to 11 mpg highway on a good day, coupled with gas prices these days it's pretty much relegated alot of them to be at car shows and sit in the garage alot. At least we can fully enjoy our TR muscle and even with a kill or 2 still not have to search for a gas station to get home on. :)

We already have the publicity, cause of dom ( vin diesel's character in fast furious series driving one in the opening scene with the semi truck jacking event that he drove under a flipping and rolling exploded trailer ) and all these car articles, car tv shows and youtube vids.
But let a majority of the public think we have grocery getters that only go 122-124mph top speed with 13.8 to 14.3 1/4 mile times, when very few have the factory chip in them anymore. :D

This show is ok....I prefer the British version much better....

I think any spot light on our cars is good....its hard to tarnish the name of a Grand National....they are known as bad ass and this show is not at all going to hurt the rep! Whether or not they are known well or very good, most car guy's and pretend car guys know these cars. I have had on more than one occasion people say "these cars ran 10's from the factory" LMAO!!!!! the reputation far exceeds the cars performance but the point is that they were/are fast and that's what is known!

I do think that even a bone stock GN would have been fine....it still would have wiped the floor with the other two cars.....and I agree they could have had two other much better cars.......maybe a real I-ROC or a GTA or a 5.0 Stang which were right there with the GN's in '87.

Still its a TV show and its entertainment and I enjoyed seeing the car! Watching the car go down the road.....I thought to myself....".damn that is a sick looking car......oh yeah I got one sitting in my garage....sigh.....lol"

Its kinda like Street Outlaws....its real (fake) racing LOL!!!!! its all staged but it sure as hell better than watching the other crap on TV.......its full of serious ground pounding muscle!

Just saw episode online (history.com).

That GN was a 10s car....far from stock inside/out, and should have flattened the other....no contest.

Am I the only one who can't find this episode????

Another member said "Season 4 Episode 3" but all I get is an episode where they are racing a Volvo, an Audi, and a Rover.

I tried looking for it on demand on comcast but no luck. Any help would be appropriate.

Did you search under top gear usa?
It's called 80's power in season 4 episode 3.
At least that is what is on history.com

I guess comcast is screwing me over, cause I have the history channel. but all I get is the U.K. Version of top gear and no matter what or how I search, I can not find the USA version of top gear.

If you are looking for the episode, you can download it on Amazon Instant Video.

If you are looking for engine shots of the GN used in the episode, I put two in this thread. Scroll up.

That sucks, on the history channel website they arent reshowing the episode on tv just yet, where as the 1st 2 episodes of season 4 are being shown again tho

Well I went to Amazon and finally found it.

It's Season 5 Episode 3.

Thanks to all for your input, now let me see if it was worth all the hassle searching for.
