........ goal being I would like a car that could be street driven, with AC on it.And have 9 second potential. Tall order probably, but I see claims of it being done..................

If one of the board Guru's/ vendors will stick with me,I'll vow to order all the go Fast stuff from them....

First of all, there is a BIG difference between a "9 second potential" GN, and one that is actually a 9 second GN. Then there is different categories like high, mid and low 9's.

Your goal has to be more specific.

Opinions and advise is easy to come by, especially on the internet, so you want to design your build around one that has actually achieved what you are trying to do when you determine exactly what that will be.

When your goal is firm, then you can ascertain the budget, parts/labor and time frame to accomplish this project.

I admire your "information gathering" process as many new owners just jump into doing stuff without researching enough to be an informed consumer. :)

I believe he said his goal was 9.70? Or was I mistaken. Good luck Phartsmeller! These cars are fast, fun, and to me very stylish. You will enjoy it in stock form, and in race form so I've heard.

I can allready see for my purpouses, the best scenario is to Get a Bullet proof long Block built and get some sort of stand alone efi system and appropriate washtub size turbo.

Allthough I will leave all that stuff in tact (factory efi harness)to use by someone else down the line if desired, the tuner aspect that it appears to me that many on this board like is somewhat strange, and to each his own,I am not Knocking it.

But I read Chinese Better than some of these Qwazi Motto Signature Line Items I see that involve working thru the factory Computer. And not all ,but it looks like most buy all this Tuner type stuff and then drop it off or reccomend dropping it off to have it tuned, why not have that guy just take it to the track and drive it for you to( I am just thinking out loud). Its helping me get my bearing's . Once you get past the bullet proof Longblock The rest is gravy ,Doesnt matter if its Buick ford or Chevy for tuning purpouses....Lets up The anty and shoot for 8.70s with above combo and AC

1. When you find the mysterious, all elusive "bulletproof" buick longblock, please let me know. I would like to invest in them :biggrin:

2. Yeah, just fly the tuner in and have him drive it. When I first started driving mine I would get off a run and they would bombard me with questions like how much boost, what rpm, what's your name, how old are you, who is the president. All I could come up with was damn that's fast, and sorry I was just trying to hold on. So, I just tossed the keys to Cal and said you tell me what it's doing. With as much time and money as you are talking about investing go the extra mile, buy the plane ticket and fly Cal to whereever you are. It's worth the money!

How about some pictures of this car? I would realy like to see what it looks like... Sounds like a neat project...

Dont have any pictures yet, I'll post some, I guess your curiousity is just how much rust does it Have? Otherwise Its just gonna look like every other Black Grand National. It wasnt too bad till I put it up on the lift ,its never been painted or had any body work done, so at least there should be any hidden surprises.
