Need to replace the axle bearings on a 7.5 GM rear end.How do I get the old bearings out?I'm talking about the ones in the end of the axle tube where the axle slides in.Thanks.

Some guys I know take the carrier out and use a LONG pipe to drive them out from the other end. I have a puller set from Mac Tools that installs on the end of a slide hammer and goes into the bearing and sits "flat" on the inside of the bearing. Then you just slide hammer them out.

You can get a slide hammer puller from harbor freight that will work once or twice to do it.

Some auto parts stores will rent you the tools to do a job. Look into that before you go out and buy a slide hammer puller just for that. When I did the rear end on my truck, I ended up buying mine, and I dont use it for anything now. The "hook" goes in behind the bearing, and the slide hammer will tap it out.
