Camshaft when trying to get a new chip burned? I bought a GN that was all apart, The motor was new , trans gone thru the only problem was I had to put it together, I did and found out it has a custom ground cam (hyd) and have no way of finding out what the cam is because the car sat for 5 years before I got it and the shop does not have the paper work for the motor any more. It seems my only choice is to pull the cam out and replace it.2nd question is ,is Hye -tech an ok place to have my car worked on? Open to sugestions.

Thank you

If the cam is already in the engine, i wouldnt bother pulling it out.

If its aftermarket from 200-200 to 218-218 it probably will make the same amount of power if the car is mostly stock.

The power is in the heads on these cars.

Contact your chip guy and see what he says, is your main concern about idle quality?

Cam affects the redline, therefor it may or may not impact the chip. If the chip RPM limit is set below the cam redline, you won't get the most out of it. However, I think a lot of chips just set the limit to the max (6375 RPM), so it wouldn't matter.
