How rich??

How much rich smoke do you guys see if you're cruising around then nail it really hard?My car leaves a HUGE black cloud behind it as if it is loading up while cruising. (128-131)The BL #'s look good at idle and cruising then shoot to 160 under hard acceleration with the JL or Jay C chip.I've had fuel taken out of both but it's not helped at all.I've changed fuel pressure from 40-45lbs with the same results.02's are 785-810 at this time.I really hate to see this smoke when I nail it!!

BLM's shooting up like it's lean, black smoke pouring out like it's rich.

How fresh is the O2 sensor?

Have you swapped the MAF for a known good one?

The 02 has less than a 100 miles on it and is an AFS 74.The MAF seems to work perfect (got from Red's few months ago,4-5 grams at idle).Just for trial and error swapped one from my friends GN who's car isn't so rich and my car had the same rich smoke.He has Blue tops but I don't know if that would make any difference in the problem I'm having with the red stripes.It seems my oil will look filthy in 800-1000 miles but doesn't smell like fuel.Maybe this is normal look for the oil??I change it around 1500-2000 miles anyway.Thanks for the reply!!!

Depends.
Some chips do that, and some are much worse then others.
There is no chip universally perfect for your combo., close yes, perfect no. that's why most folks sind up buying several to get the best possible FIT.
It might just be tire smoke!.
You got too much HP.

Bottom line is how does it run?.

I have been told mine leaves a good little puff of black, but I cant see it when I'm driving. When I passed my buddy the other day in his MCSS he said he got a real good whiff of alky

I blame it on the Thrasher but as long as it does not stumble and fill the crankcase with gas I dont worry about it


BTW watch a carbureted BBC or SBC one time nail the throttle and I gaurantee you will see a nice puff of black smoke as the accelerator pumps kick in. That is how an engine keep from shutting down when you nail the throttle. It temporarily dumps fuel in to make up for the sudden loss of vacuum
