Hi, I'm a newbie here and I may be trading my Nova for a stock 85 T Type with pretty low miles. I know these things can make big power pretty easily. What's the most economical/reliable way to go low 12's/hi 11's, and what would it cost in parts? I definitely want it very streetable. Thanks.

Hold out for an 86 or 87 cause you'll be tryna do an engine conversion before you know it. Just not enough part as there are for the 86/87. just my 0.02$

you have to know what you want. i'm happy with my 85. would i like the 50 or so horses from an intercooler? - yes, but i've got plenty of power for my needs and i can hang with pretty much anything. can hotairs get into the 12s? - yes, but you've got to have deep pockets and be ready to fabricate your own stuff. we dont have the luxury to bolt on horsepower.

search the forum, there is some great info in here, with links to more good info.

here is an example:
Turbo Buick Performance Build Ups/Recipes

good luck.

Not with a hot-air you're not.

Well, maybe after spending multi-thousands, of which could have been put towards an 86-87 which only needs injectors, CAI, fuel upgrades & Alcohol for 12's

Excuse my ignorance, I don't know a whole lot about these Buicks, I've been an old Chevy guy forever.. Can't an intercooler be added to an 85? What are the major differences between the 86/87 and earlier?

the engine block needs drilled for oil return line. exhaust wiring coil pack are a few obvious differences. the turbo is mounted up front on an intercooled. intake is diff. alot of stuff needs changed,it can be done though, lots have done it.

I didn't want to open another thread, but is there a list somewhere with the differences? I've never actually seen the engine bay of a GN, let alone a hot air vs. intercooled, but I've been looking around and besides everyone just saying it's too much of a hassle, noone wants to explain...
