Unplug and remove lamp from hood. Careful as it maybe hot from being on. Best to unplug and let it cool.
Once lamp assembly is off of vehicle.... Remove bulb and clean bulb with windex or equiv.
You will notice the reflector on the lamp is dirty and tarnished. If the finish is flaking and reallypitted then this will not work light pitting will come out tho.
Use a good cleaner and clean the lamp assembly up especially the cup reflector portion. I used windex again for this since i had it handy, just soaked a rag real good with it.
Now use a metal polish like Neverdull, Flitz, etc and polish the inside of cup. Be careful not to get the cleaner in the bulb socket. May take a few times to get some shine to come out. It wont be like mirror chrome but will shine up.
Reinstall and plug in
This will increase the underhood brightness since the reflector can do a better job. Most reflectors arent really very shiny and the time has hampered any that was once there.
Little tip that makes a difference
