This would be window tint in a house. We are getting the windows re-tinted in the house. It has some old tint and covered with over-spray etc..... Any hints on removing the old tint on large windows? Thanks.

if it is anything like car window tint i usually start at a corner and peel it off slowly sometimes you will need to pull it in diffrent directions so it doesnt rip. once it is off there is that nasty glue left i usually use carb cleaner/brake cleaning spray followed quickly by a brand new razor blade to scrape the glue off. you may need to do it a couple times to get all the glue off .make sure to have a rag to wipe glue off the razor blade. after your done wash the glass with glass cleaner. this is what i have found that works on car window tint. let us know how it works out !

Brake cleaner will really take off the glue. Kinda scared of using brake cleaner since we are getting ready to paint the room.

If it is the same stuff that is used on cars try Purple Power that you get at the parts store. I just did this on my car and yes it is a pain. I tried several different things but this worked the best and no fumes. I also used a new razor blade to scrape the glue off.

razor blade scraper. i've had the best luck with those things.

x2 on the scrapper.. Windex works great... May need to go threw it a few times but it works great!!!.. but windex is harmless in the house!!!!

Clothes steamer will work great . Usually you can pull it off in one shot, without leaving any residue . Cant let it get to steamy though or it will loosen the headliner fabric

If

the window is exposed to the sun, straight ammonia and cover with a black plastic ( garbage can liner ). Be sure to ventilate the area well. Let sit for 30 minutes and pull off tint. If it does not pull off easily, rewet and try 30 minutes later. It should pull off easily and leave very little residue. The sun must be on the window to expediate the process.
White T Type 989, you are a LUCKY man. She is HOT!!!

Thanks. Did not have straight ammonia...used windex. I covered it with a plastic drop cloth. Used a lot of new razor blades. Kinda messy but got it off. Thanks once again.
