I'm going to get my V2 intercooler pipes HPC coated black...to match the MAF pipe/turbo shield...the guy at HPC was trying to convince me that coating the inside of the tubes also would be beneficial especially with turbo applications...I'm a little skeptical in having paint inside that could chip off and head into the motor...he assured me this wouldn't happen...I said do you guarantee that...he said yes...still doesn't make me feel comfortable about doing it...can anyone comment on this...please no comments about HPC just saying this to get more money...this may be true but that's not the issue...I just want to know if coating the inside could possibly cause problems and if not is it beneficial...
 
I don't see the need in it at all. I had some old ESP pipes that had rust in them and got rid of the unit! You don't want crap (even if the guy says it will never happen) falling into the intake tract. JMHO.
