Heading south/Florida next week from Canada via the Buffalo area . want to know which Hwy #79 or #77 south . what would be the better Hwy ? not in a hurry just want a laid back scenic nice drive . do not want to go the Hwy 75 south run , tired of that . thanks .

Well you could take the Eastern seaboard hwy.. I would think that is very scenic... On the way through Georgia you could stop in Savannah which is very pretty..

79 takes you from erie through pittsburgh, down threw the mountains of West virginia. Get on rt 19 is scenic near summersville? for about 70 miles. The new river gorge is on 19 and there is a scenic overlook there. Then 19 runs you right into 77 south. This is the way i go to get south.

If you go this way, don't you dare go 1 mph over the speed limit through Summersville. The whole town is like 3 miles long, and its the speeding ticket capital of the eastern US. Ask me how I know? ;)

leaving thursday , any word on the condition of the Hwy's with the recent flooding ? thanks .

Take 81 south in Binghamton NY and then take 77 south in NC. Much prettier and less hectic than 95.

I just came though the same way on the July 1st. No problem with the roads so your fine. Just watch your speed on US RT19 like mentioned earlier.

Tell us Tim, how do you know? LOL.

I got stopped twice in a row once for 10 mph over and the second for going 6 mph over the limit. I then let my wife drive. The officers were very friendly and only gave me a warning

Thanks Guys for your post !!!!!!!!! looking forward to the trip . always love traveling in the southern States .Great people and good times :)

Make sure that you check out the New River Gorge Bridge. The bridge is the world's longest single arch steel span and it is the second highest bridge in this country.

And there were some big speed traps in the Carolinas. My wife was driving, good thing, and there were two guys standing on an overpass. My first thought was they are throwing things off the bridge and hitting cars. Well I was wrong, around the corner were 15-20 police cars pulling over speeders. Just be careful.
