Patrick - it's taken long enough!! Good luck. Craig

i have always tried to run the car with a conservative tune to keep from really hurting the motor. I put those ported heads and stuff on the motor just over 2 yrs ago. so i guess it had to break something eventually.

i hope all is well and ole Slo will be running again.

Where are you guys getting your headsets at, plus I will need the arp bolts also, a friend of mine just popped his last Sat and we will need to replace his.

Does Jason carry the stock headgaskets, we want to use the stock type.

I joined this club about 6 weeks after buying my GN. I think I replaced 2 sets on my 85 setup before I finally went steel shim. After that I blew holes in the pistons:eek: That led to my intercooled setup and have since blown 2 HG on this setup. Last time it ate by bearings and blew up the turbo so the cars been sitting since then. Its about to be resurrected though. Havent decided what to do about gaskets yet but prolly will do steels.

Ron, Is there a reason why you would like to run the stock gaskets? I see your in the high 11's at 24psi The stockers don't like any thing over 25-26psi. When blowing one of these stock style HG's your sending graphite material everywhere inside the motor. It gets stuck in the screen of your pick up the metal gets scraped up & down your cylinders walls etc. It's just a hassle. I would look in to some other options since your getting quicker like Cometics, SCE, or RJC's. The RJC steel shim gaskets worked great in my car with Irons until low 11's. Depending on how big your bore is of course 20,30 or 40. RJC's work well at 20 over. Just some helpful info.

This is for a friend of mine, we are going with Jason's kit, so I will be getting some practice installing his kit on Henry's car, then if ever I need them on my car
I will have had a little on the job training with the RJC kit, lol.

Do any of you guys consider asking what type of engine a guy has before recommending HG's other than stock? If a guy has a stock lower end, with a cast crank and pistons, no billet caps or girdle, and seals it up with RJC gaskets, and runs 26 psi and has some detonation, he may drive over the crank. Just my $.02

head gasket pic

hey guys

I finally got my old digital camera working again. so i thought i would post a pic of the carnage on my head gasket.

Aw man...that gasket ain't hurt. Just put it back together and throw you some stop leak in there. It'll be good for 5 more years....;) :D

Seriously, Did you find anymore damage? I hope it did not groove the block or break a piston.
What about the head bolts? Were they stock or?? Do you think the head might have lifted or do you think it just leaned out?

P.S. Everybody told you those e-bay headers were going to mess up your car. J/K
