My car hooks great on the strip and has cut 1.49's on slicks and 1.57's on M/T drag radials but it does not hook well on the street. I have no front sway bar, air bags in the rear and UMI adjustable upper and tubular lowers. I have a couple of buddies with LS1 F-bodies and they wont 60' near as well as my car at the track but they kill me off the line on the street with less tire. I run the M/T drag radials all the time on the street. ANyone got any ideas? Thanks

I guess you could go with even wider DRs next time if possible.

On the street the tires arent going to hook as well because of the lack of a burnout prior to launching, and that heat is what makes them stick.

You can tune your launch for the street if you have airbags and stuff, although it might not work as well on the track. turn the pressure up in the tires on the street if you have it low. A lot of radial tires ive tried respond well to this. Fill to the max and test it again.

I can get 1.80s on 265/50/15 dunlop street tires launching at 4 psi without the spare tire in the back with 38psi. With 28psi i can barely dip into the 1.9s with more spin during 1st and 2nd. On the street they get about the same traction as the strip with pressure playing an equal role.

Not an idea on how to get more traction on the street but an idea of why your ls1 buddies do better on the street that you. Looking at you 60' times I am guessing you make a lot more HP & torque than your friends. They probably cut 1.9's & 2.0's and due to their power, a well prepped track is not as important to them as to someone with more power that is pushing the limits of traction.

With Nittos, I found that, on the street, with no burnout I can leave with 4# and after a good burnout can leave with 8#.
