In my quest for speed i think i blew up my transmission
First off, my transmission has always had a nice firm 1-2 shift but the 2-3 shift lately has been very slippery (the addition of alky has not helped either ). one day, i was at a red light and then it turned green and i took my foot of the brake and the car did NOT nudge forward. I had to press the gas pedal and after a couple seconds it finally 'caught' and began to move. This only happened once and it was last week. Then, a couple of days ago, while crusing on the highway i noticed a small vibration. I could feel it in my seat and my first thought was the torque converter was going bad. This vibration was felt while the TQ was unlocked and locked. I blew it off thinking the vibration had always been there but still had my doubts...
Last night i took out the GN, got on a stretch of road and proceeded to accelerate. The rpms began to increase and then all of sudden it felt like the tranny was shoved into neutral and the rpms rose quickly while the car stopped accelerating. I knew at that instant the trans had gone out on me
I was still able to get the GN moving, it took a lot of rpms, top speed was about 40 mph, and i could hear a loud noise from the tranny while i was moving. Good thing i was only about 2 miles from home. It took alot of rpms to get it up the driveway and into the garage.
Thoughts on what happened internally?
