First of all Im not a very patient guy most of the time and I understand that the tracks are for everyone, but that being said, I cant stand the way the 3 closest tracks--Byron, The Grove, and US-41 schedule a day of events. My buddy and I were all ready to go make some passes with his car and we checked the websites and found out that Byron has qualifying for a Wheelie contest to be held Sunday. How many cars can actually do an impressive wheelie that they need to dedicate an entire day to it? So Byron was out. Next the Grove was a possible choice until we found out about some Summit Racing sponsored jibber jabber that again dominates the entire day and brings out everyone and grandma too. Lastly theres 41, which Ive been to once and maybe never again. Thats the only track where the entire staff appears to go on break at the same time for an hour at a time shutting down the racing when the cars are lined up and the track is fine  Oh yeah heres the best part about 41---they are not even open until 5 pm today? What the hell is that? When I win the lottery I will build a track location that has at least 4 sets of dragstrips and will be staffed properly!

Ha, I wouldn't even bother with rt.66 then. Even if you get there at 4 on a test n tune night, your lucky to get 2 passes in by 10. They also close for the year Oct. 1st no matter what the weather is like.

US41 ROCKS!!!!! Best traction short of Norwalk,OH hands down! Yes, they take a few 15min breaks, but they desrve it! They constantly tending to the starting line for traction. I average 10-12 passes everytime i go to US41. ALL my PB's in ALL my cars are from US41.

Come down to Indy sometime ane let me show you how a world class track ran by monkey morons really sucks! IRP, oh, i mean ORP. Now that is a track to bitch about.

I think anyone who attended the Buick HP nats can attest to that. (Not to take anything away from the event, it rocked! )

I think you would get alot more sympathy if most people had THREE local tracks to choose from.

Try growing up in south florida where the nearest track is 150 miles away and you are lucky to get 3 runs in an entire night.

Then move to north county san diego where you had a local 1/4 track but it gets closed down and you are left with only an 1/8th mile that is held in a parking lot with a week on, week off at best (sometimes whole months without racing) only on friday starting at 530 pm and is still an hour away.

If there were three 1/4 tracks near me I dont know what I would do. Probably need alot more money for all the new stuff I would break.

Actually he has 4, just left one out because rt 66 is gay unless your pro

Atleast you have a track. Closest one is 120 miles...Besides Walamrt being here..which isnt always a great thing...I think I live in the craphole of America.

You can add one more to the list soon, I think there is one under constuction in Minooke, (I don't know if I am spelling it correctly) but they should be opening up soon. Then there is Cordova too which isn't too far.

Is that Minooka which is near Morris?

Sounds like my "problem"....lol. One 1/4 track that's little over an hour away, an 1/8 that's only 30 mins or so away, and another 1/4 facility under construction about 30 mins away. Add in that Reynolds, Gainesville FL are only about 2-21/2 hours away and I'm in a good spot...lol. Feel sorry for you guys who live so far away from a track.....that has to suck big time.

Hey at least you got 3 tracks, though it may as well be none from what you said.

41's track surface blows! Unless it's an SCC night there isn't all that much hook in the track, but it's close and probably the only I'll visit.

There's also Oceola over in IN and last I was there(6years ago) your shoes would come off on the starting line on a normal T&T night.

That new track that's goin up isn't that close, it's gonna be about 1.5hours south of I-80 on 55

Golden Isles Speedway about 20 mins outside Brunswick on US 82. Bunch of people from Jacksonville formed a partnership after Jax Raceway closed down, then got the ball rolling on a drag track next to the speedway. The land has been cleared, so it is underway. I'll check with the folks on the Jax Racing board and see if they can some details.

Look at the bright side. At least you have a track or in your case, several tracks in which to race at.

Our one and only track on Oahu (the most populated island in Hawaii) closed this past April.

Tracks

I like them all each has their quirks but my best times usually happen at RT 66
