If you were on the design team for the Grandnational what would you
change or add to make better? Or was it just right?

We're all on the design team, hence the fantastic innovations developed for these old cars.

A cupholder and sunglasses holder are a must on a daily driver, mine have been in use for about 18 years.

What else

Speaking of cupholders, does anyone sell the armrest that has the cupholders in front that matches the GN interior?

Just a few...

1. A GNX style dash option in every TR.
2. Honeycomb wheel option.
3. Door speakers in every TR.
4. A real informative digital dash. Not the A,B,or C one I have.
5. A rear deck that was made to hold 6x9s not the wimpy 4x10s.
6. A Hydroboost brake system instead of the Powermaster.
7. A steel bolt on center cap
8. Lighted rearview mirror for T-Top cars
9. Door pulls eliminated so I don't have to keep spare screw covers around.
10. A boost retard system the lowered boost when it saw detonation(KR).

Wonder why the Olds 442 and the Monte SS had better dash displays and the GN didnt? I agree with your list.

The front frame cross brace that was found on Grand Prix's as well as the jounce braces found on Monte Carlos....and the rear lower and upper control arms would be factory boxed.

Less sensors.
A more resilient and durable paint.
A better brake system.
Improved oiling system.
Improved electrical system.
GNX style gauges.
'Something' in regards to the bumper fillers.

The cluster
Lear Siegler seats
The cluster
The cluster

I personally think the stock GN rims are hideous, that's what I'd change.... also what's with that gay bump in the hood....:D

This is awesome, at the end of this thread I will compile a to-do list!
Would do you guys think of a market to re-create this same body style with alot of these improvements. Didnt Chip Foose and a company do something similar to the 69' Camaro, with a revised VIN.

Kept on building them into the 90's. Who knows how much better they could have been.

A revised more airodynamic (sp) nose, bigger sway bars, and better rust proofing.

Factory Alky Option
Manual Transmission Option
Posi on all Turbo Models
Updated MAFs
Crack proof exhaust manifolds
Heads up display with built in Power Logger and a media center similar to BMW iDrive
On/Off Traction Control :p
Female friendly interior and seating
No hateration from the Vette guys this time around

New intake manifolds so we cant blow the welds from a 150 shot of NAWSSSSS
Twin turbo modulator muffler bearing with an optional Nawsss bracket built into the passenger seat...oh and a diamond plate lightly bolted to the passenger side floor board that falls out during heavy accelaration.
An anti psychedelic nullification pill holder that will keep our heads clear when speeds exceed 90 mph

I think thats it!!! :p

Oh I forgot....Asian girls in plaid skirts come standard

GNX cluster as part of the regular GN package. you just know that, given that every other G body had a full gauge cluster of some sort available, that someone at some point was working on a Buick gauge cluster.
4 "front" GTA wheels as an option. they fit just fine and are already in the GM parts catalog. use the same 245/50/16 tires as on a same year IROC or TA.
bigger brakes, with optional rear discs.
GNX fender vents.
better flowing exhaust- high flow cat and maybe get rid of the muffler and just stick some resonators on the end of the pipes. but that wouldn't pass federal noise laws or Buick quality standards.
harder body bushings and install all the "missing" bushings.
all the frame and body bracing.
