I would have to agree a lot with Romone here. Tupac and Biggie were two of the best rappers out there imho. There lives were cut short because of a feud between the East and West coast rappers. Which actually was a feud between two music producing companies who had a falling out. One was accused of having another killed, etc etc. Biggie's death was payback. Tupac's later was payback for Biggie's.. That is what ultimately caused their death.. Not their gangster life styles.. Although I am sure it didn't help..

My point is this.

The so called "ganster life" is BS! Try raising 40 acres of corn and see what you get. You guys are young still and are just beging to figure out what lie's about. Those "other" guys didn't have a clue.

So called "rap" is missing one letter! It's the C in front of it!:biggrin:

For some reason I had to quote myself to correct it?

Glad to here it Romone. The BS that's been going on is rediculase (sp) to say the least. I grew up in an era that had more going on than you can imagine. Ever here of Frank Castello? He was a hero of mine and it wasn't a comic relief team.

One of my class mate decided to bring an M-10 into school and when he closed his locker it went off. This was late 70's. The lockers were destroyed to say the least and most of us were freeking out.

On another "venture" we had an op to buy a 50 cal vulcan. Needless to say the two officers that happen to chase us didn't go that far after we cut the tops of their cars off.

Not bragging at all and if I coud I would change some of the out comes that happened.

If I was your age again I would find a lady that could put up with me as well as a good job and live life to the fullest.

Let's be open minded people.... For once, try to get out of you comfort zone and step into the life of the less fortunate. Poverty, growing up in the hood vice a silver spoon being put into your mouth since day one for some. Others, well...you learn as you go. With a little luck, you may become someone in todays society. Country Music,Rap, Folk music, Latino what ever. It just like art work, folks are just expressing feelings, emotions and in a general sense of up coming to eduacate those of a more fortunate up coming. When last did you hear of a rich rap group bragging about how good they had it growing up?

While some of the less fortunate have found wealth, it's not always the answer to happiness and ultimate success in the end. Most of the time it will still end in death or these individuals ending up in prison sad to say.

I can honestly say, I can even feel a sense of racism lingering in this thread to a certain extent. I just ask kindly that you not post, and refrain from commenting on things unless you have lived the life of some of these individuals. Only then, you will understand the sense of belonging to Something for the soul purpose of survival because your family has failed you as a child due to drugs, alcoholism, and a government and society In general pthat could care less. Just ltake a good look at todays society,

not buying that. there are plenty of people who have come out of the ghetto to become great artists and they dont talk about murdering each other or fuking some bitch as he would say.

Wyclef said he had to graduate to the projects from grass huts in Haiti. I can assure u was poorer then tupoc. u dont hear him singing about the garbage this idiot use to sing.

he's rich and talks about how rough it was growing up but you dont hear him disrespecting women and plotting his rivals murder in his lyrics.

dont confuse racism with reality. many people grew up in the projects who were just as poor as him if not poorer and they turned out fine respecting the law, the opposite sex and each other. more then I can say for this animal.

GNBRETT to AN extent I agree with you whole heartly. But we must keep in mind not everyone in the hood is a criminal. It's not a choice for some, but a matter of survival because there is no one giving them support or direction to turn too for guidance. No family support, no nothing. I am also a firm believer that a person can be helped so much, end result, it's up to the individual to make the right decision.

oh I wont disagree that if I was born in raised in a housing project with criminals for parents that I too may have not turned out successful. maybe, maybe not. unlikely I will agree but u still have some decency as a human being and respect for human life. rich or poor he had neither.

most people from the ghetto have jobs, pay their taxes and contribute to society. its the 10% that give the rest a black eye. Tupoc was that 10% who happened to rap well. nothing more, nothing less.

i might have missed something BUT
some of your guys posts are funny as hell
gangster rap is a gimmick a sales angle just look at these punks before or after a concert they have more cops on duty then most city mayors.
Yeahh some try/do stupid things but most are just actors.
as far as Tupacs music i like one maybe two songs if that, Big was OK but his BS Puff remake tracks hurt him big time.
BTW 98% of the **** i listen to is hard core rap since about the age of ten.
the funny ship is that i have little ones and I NEVER play it when they are around and they are always around, which leaves me with, when i am alone in the car which is also very rare.

The hood is another story all together.
remember
Rapers = actors/sales men nothing else
and they have sold you big time.
My most hated raper is that women killing punk i forget his name he either kills or tortures a women in a bunch of songs, he is really famous OHH what ever.

Point taken. I'm sure you have seen the brunt of things we haven't being in the position that your in. While I'm not all that familiar with TuPok,however that is spelled, I'm sure the music industries has realized that in the long term that rap such as you just described isn't benificial and will loose money in the long term. That's why it now has standards ior should I say regulations in place that need to be adhered too for success of the rap, music industries.

Again, I don't agree with his lyrics, he's only talking about the everyday life in the way he grew up. Most folks growing up in a similiar life can relate to him. It is a way of life unfortunately. Maybe this was all he knew too. He seen something in it and took it for everything it was worth. To bad,he didn't change his ways though. That was his demise in the end.

That's a crock of s**t. most metal is about a book they read or a history lesson. Iron Maiden. Judas Priest, Black Sabbath. The songs have substance and the live shows to this day are amazing as opposed to charging people to hear you talking over a repetitive back track that has no substance or value whatsoever. They might as well rap to their dog or into a well!

D

FOR ALL OF YOU!!!

what is Rock and Metal music... basically a bunch of self mutilating, self hating, garbage that has no point, instead of hopping around in a cirlcle banging your head and slitting wrists, and talking about how life bad is, and death... seems pretty similar to me...

NOT ALL RAP/R&P/HIP-HOP music is about B*tches, hoes, cash, money, cars, murder, Gangs C and B walkin... but ill be honest.. alot of it is...
If you all remember or are willing to listen, there is/are positive (urban) if you feel more comfortable calling it that music out there and there are hundreds of artists that actually have a message, and stray away from mainstream rap music...

such as
de la soul, heavy D, D.Black, Naughty By nature, Erykah badu, black milk, J Dilla, Mista Madd, LL cool J, The fresh prince, craig mack, Hieroglyphics, kanye west (when he first started), Talib Kweli, Sir mix alot (we all love that song!!)

Case in point... some of the music has a bad rep, but if you dig deeper and listen, theres some good music out there...

and With 2pac he was One artist that actually had a point with his music AND a message, LISTEN TO THE LYRICS OF THESE TRACKS!!!

I find this funny as heck they way everyone is going back forth, rap is this and metal is that...

I was an equal opportunity listener, I tried it all:biggrin: Like most of it:cool:

I love the MUSIC. Most of the time I like the beats better than the words.

Being an audiophile nothing beats the box like a good 90's rap song:biggrin:

I bet most of you would think me being from NC would love country. County is my least favorite genre out of the main stream music scene. Don't get me wrong some of it is great, but like with any form of music some of it sucks;)

Folks used to look at me crazy at the car shows. I'd roll in with Tupac shaking the house, then switch over to Dr. Feelgood to show how loud it was, and finally slip in a little jazz to show how complete the system covered the scale... I shocked many that way....

I think mostly everyone who has negative things to say about 2Pac does not understand poverty. Never grew up in a neighborhood where people getting shot and dying is an everyday occurrence.

He used what he knew best to make a living far greater than most college grads do. More than we can say about most of the folks who get comfortable in poverty so long as they get their hand outs. If you listen to his music he wanted those at the bottom to rise to the top as he did.

He also starred in a few movies and wrote poetry. Who here is this talented? Prove it and I will forever hold my peace.

Your perspective means jack chit unless you understand 2pacs perspective on society.

Rest in peace Tupac.

I am not surprised. Even Uma Thurman said in an interview her all time favorite music album is 2Pac All Eyez On Me./

When the message is lost in the translation is when there is a problem hence the demeanor of a big percentage of today's youth black and white alike.

A black man has a hard enough time advancing in life at any level so these rap artist aren't doing them any favors portraying certain behaviors. The only thing they care about is their own pockets at any expense.

They are taking advantage of under educated and ignorant people.

That music has single handedly effected the manors and respect that millions of people have and it's ruining the country. I personally do not stand for it at any level.

Manors and respect are demanded!

Talking about lost messages the topic at hand is Tupac. Tupac DID make songs about being a thug and breaking laws but he didn't invent the lifestyle.

I believe he made those songs to pull in the audience he wanted to educate.

You take a song like "When we ride on our enemies" its about gang banging (to get the audiences attention).

Then a song like "Brenda's got a baby" and it's trying to educate the community about teen pregnancy.

Basically like bribing a child with candy to take their medicine.
