I'm insalling the springs on stock iron heads wiyh Manley valves. The springs are Comp #26918-12 retainers are #787-12 and the locks are #601-12. The recomended Install height is 1.800". My problem is that I only have 1.660". The stock install height is 1.715"- 1.705". I don't want to cut the spring seats .140" and would hit water if I did. Even with a 1.660" install height I'll still have .030 clearance befor coil bind. I can get another set of locks to get me at the 1.715" height. I know others have used this setup. What was their install height? Would you run them at 1.660" for extra seat pressure? If not would run them at 1.715"?
